The spring cultural festival in the heart of the Maiella
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Spring Encounters is the cultural festival that enlivens Caramanico Terme every year, a famous thermal village in the Maiella National Park, in the province of Pescara, in Abruzzo. Established in 2025 by the municipal administration led by Mayor Franco Parone, the event transforms the town into a widespread stage between April and June, distributing appointments over weekends and holidays such as Easter, April 25th, and May 1st to welcome visitors.
The festival's program weaves together different languages. The theatrical performances, also curated by the Indaco Teatrogiovani company, enliven the streets of the center and the Ex Convento delle Clarisse with itinerant proposals ranging from fantasy to civil storytelling. E-bike excursions and guided walks on the trails of the Maiella, organized in collaboration with local entities, allow visitors to discover the nature of the Park, from the Orfento woods to the peaks of the massif.
The musical heart of the festival is the final of the Paolo Barrasso International Music Competition, a major event that brings hundreds of young musicians from all over Italy and abroad to Caramanico Terme. Organized by the Marino da Caramanico Music Academy in collaboration with the Municipality, the competition represents one of the most anticipated moments of the Caramanico spring and confirms the village's vocation for cultural hospitality.
Caramanico Terme, included among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy and known since the sixteenth century for the properties of its thermal waters, offers Spring Encounters a unique setting, between Monte Morrone and the Maiella. The festival, with free admission, combines the thermal and naturalistic identity of the town with the cultural proposal, inviting residents and tourists to experience the territory in the most evocative season of the year.
The 2026 edition of Spring Encounters in Caramanico Terme has not yet been officially announced: at the moment, the Municipality has not published dates or a program. The festival, born in 2025, traditionally takes place between April and June with shows, excursions in the Maiella National Park, and cultural events. For spring 2026, the Paolo Barrasso International Music Competition (from May 21 to 24, 2026) is confirmed as a historic musical event for the village. It is recommended to check the channels of the Municipality of Caramanico Terme for the final calendar.
Caramanico Terme can be reached by car from the A25 motorway (Torre de' Passeri or Scafa-Alanno exit), continuing along the SP487 towards the Maiella National Park. The nearest train station is Scafa, connected by bus lines. The reference airport is Pescara (Abruzzo Airport).
The festival events are free of charge. Some excursions and guided activities require advance booking with local operators.
For the updated program, it is recommended to consult the channels of the Municipality of Caramanico Terme and the local Abruzzo press.
