Ten days of sport, gastronomy, and conviviality at the Scivo sports field in Treppo Grande
In Treppo Grande, a small town in the Friulian foothills in the province of Udine, spring concludes with an event that the community eagerly awaits all year round: the Sports Festival. For about ten days, from late May to early June, the 'Scivo' sports field on Via Trento becomes a large open-air courtyard where amateur sports and good Friulian cuisine coexist from morning until late at night.
The competitive heart of the event lies in the football and volleyball tournaments, which see local teams compete in a fun and festive atmosphere. Alongside the fields, there's table football, games between friends, and play areas for children, ensuring that every age group finds its own moment.
The gastronomic stand is the other major attraction: the undisputed star is frico, a symbol of Carnic and foothill cuisine, accompanied by chips, sausage sandwiches, wurstels, hamburgers (also in a vegan version), and the classic Wiener Schnitzel, reminiscent of Friuli's Central European connections. Beer and local wine are served, while evenings come alive with DJ sets and music.
Among the most characteristic events is the walk 'Par cognossi Trep' ('to get to know Treppo'), a convivial occasion to discover corners and history of the town by walking together. The festival is organized by local volunteers (UOLLI) and is entirely dedicated to funding and keeping alive the sporting and associative life of the area, now part of the municipality of Treppo Ligosullo, formed by the merger of Treppo Grande and Ligosullo.
We are in the hilly area north of Udine, where Friuli begins to rise towards the Julian Prealps. It is a land of quiet villages, meadows, and woods, ideal for those seeking authentic Friulian experiences away from the most crowded destinations: the Sports Festival is the best way to experience its community spirit.
The 2026 Sports Festival of Treppo Grande returns to the 'Scivo' sports field on Via Trento from May 29 to June 7, with extended opening hours until late evening. Ten days dedicated to football and volleyball tournaments, Friulian cuisine, and entertainment for all ages.
The gastronomic stand offers frico, sausage sandwiches, chips, wurstels, hamburgers (also vegan), and Wiener Schnitzel, accompanied by beer and wine. There's also table football, a playground for children, and musical evenings with DJ sets.
