About Sorrisi Lirici

Sorrisi Lirici is the summer appointment with opera that has enlivened the village of Diano Castello, in the Gulf of Diano, for years. Every July, in Piazza Mons. Massone, a title from the great comic repertoire is staged, performed by singers with piano accompaniment in an intimate and evocative setting. Now in its 10th edition and an integral part of the Castrum Musicae season, the festival brings opera out of the theatres and to the people, with free admission, in one of the most authentic villages in the province of Imperia.

Opera in the square in Diano Castello

Sorrisi Lirici is the festival that brings opera to the summer evenings of Diano Castello, a village in the Gulf of Diano in the province of Imperia. The idea is to bring the great repertoire closer to the public, staging titles of Italian comic opera in the square, under the stars, with singers and piano accompaniment.

A tradition that continues

Now in its 10th edition, the festival is one of the highlights of the Castrum Musicae concert season. The performance takes place in Piazza Mons. Massone, in the heart of the historic centre, in an intimate setting that enhances the direct relationship between performers and spectators.

Opera for everyone

With free admission, Sorrisi Lirici is designed for both opera enthusiasts and those approaching opera for the first time. The choice of a comic, brilliant, and accessible repertoire, along with the informal setting of a village square, makes the evening an experience of music and conviviality typical of the Ligurian summer in the western Riviera.
