About Castrum Musicae

Castrum Musicae is the new concert season debuting in 2026 in Diano Castello, in the Golfo Dianese, intertwining sacred, baroque, and lyrical music with the historical heritage of the village. Directed by Nicholas Tagliatini, the festival brings concerts, operas, and moments of great music to the churches and squares of the town in the province of Imperia, from the spring Via Crucis to the late summer Dixit Dominus, culminating in a grand operatic finale at the Teatro Concordia. An ambitious cultural project, with free admission, that enhances the musical and identity-driven vocation of Diano Castello.

Castrum Musicae is Born

Castrum Musicae is a cultural initiative debuting in 2026 in Diano Castello, a village in the Golfo Dianese in the province of Imperia. The festival combines classical and sacred music with the historical heritage of the town, with concerts hosted in the churches and squares of the centre. Artistic direction is entrusted to Nicholas Tagliatini, a bass singer and pianist.

A Season Between Sacred and Lyrical

The programme for the first season spans different genres and locations: it opens with sacred music with the Via Crucis minore in the Parish Church of San Nicola, continues in the summer with the lyrical event Sorrisi Lirici in the piazza, touches on baroque with the Dixit Dominus in the Collegiate Church, and concludes with an operatic title at the Teatro Concordia. A journey that enhances the musical and architectural heritage of the village.

Diano Castello, a Natural Stage

The historic churches of Diano Castello, from the Parish Church to the Collegiate Church of San Nicola da Bari, offer a highly evocative acoustic and visual setting. Castrum Musicae aims to make music a vehicle for discovering the village, in dialogue with other Diano traditions such as Castrum Diani and the Premio Vermentino.

A Project for the Territory

With free admission, the festival is born with the ambition of becoming a stable event in the cultural calendar of the Golfo Dianese, capable of attracting lovers of cultured music in an authentic context of the Riviera Ligure di Ponente.
