About Connessione Festival

The Sordevolo Connessione Festival is the major summer event series that brings the Giovanni Paolo II Amphitheatre in Sordevolo, in the Biella area, to life. From June to July, this evocative arena at the foot of the Biellese mountains hosts concerts by national and international artists, comedy shows, and live performances, including several 'date zero' tour premieres. It is a crossover program that weaves together musical genres, theatre, and tradition, with side events spread across Sordevolo, Biella, and the most scenic spots in the Province of Biella.

A festival connecting music, territory, and people

The Sordevolo Connessione Festival is the premier summer event in the Biella region, hosted at the Giovanni Paolo II Amphitheatre in Sordevolo, on Via Clemente Vercellone. Created to forge authentic connections between arts, locations, and audiences, the festival transforms this open-air arena, which seats approximately 4,000, into one of the most popular stages in Northern Piedmont for two months. The event is organized by Il Contato del Canavese and runs throughout June and July, featuring a crossover format that blends music, comedy, and live performance.

A lineup featuring big names and tour premieres

The strength of the Connessione Festival lies in its ability to bring top-tier Italian and international artists to the small town of Sordevolo, often hosting the 'date zero'โ€”the absolute premiereโ€”of their tours. In recent editions, the Amphitheatre has welcomed singer-songwriters, bands, tribute acts, and entertainment shows, alternating between rock and pop concerts, theatre-song performances, and comedy.

  • Concerts by singer-songwriters and bands from the Italian scene
  • Comedy and live entertainment shows
  • Tribute productions and musical anniversary celebrations
  • Side events in churches, cloisters, and historic sites in Sordevolo and Biella

Sordevolo, the village of the Passion

Sordevolo is known throughout Italy for the famous Passion of Sordevolo, the grand popular representation that brings hundreds of local actors to the stage every five years. The Giovanni Paolo II Amphitheatre itself, built specifically to host this tradition, becomes the home of the Connessione Festival in the summer: a continuous dialogue between popular theatre, the village's identity, and major contemporary entertainment. Nestled in the greenery of the Biellese foothills, the location offers a natural setting that makes every evening particularly evocative.

A festival spread across the Biella area

In addition to the main evenings at the Amphitheatre, the Connessione Festival offers side events distributed between Sordevolo, the city of Biella, and other scenic locations in the Province of Biella, Piedmont. Churches, cloisters, and historic spaces host storytelling, theatre, and music performances, extending the experience well beyond the main stage and showcasing the local heritage.

Useful information

Tickets for individual evenings are on sale on major ticketing platforms. One of the new features of recent editions is the ability to book parking online adjacent to the Amphitheatre, on Via Clemente Vercellone, which is recommended given the limited number of spaces.
