A food and wine walk through the vineyards of Moscato Passito di Strevi DOC
The Slow Walk in the Valley of Passito Wines is one of the most beloved food and wine events in Strevi, a small town in the Province of Alessandria, Piedmont. The event invites you to walk calmly and unhurriedly along the paths of the Valle Bagnario, a hilly basin entirely dedicated to viticulture, where one of the region's most precious sweet wines is born: Moscato Passito di Strevi DOC.
The trail stretches for about 3 kilometers among the vines and farmhouses of the valley, with a gentle elevation gain suitable for everyone. Along the way, you will encounter six gastronomic stops set up by local wineries: at each station, you will be offered a traditional dish, a selection of the producer's wines, and a tasting of Moscato Passito. One of the most picturesque points on the route is the yellow Big Bench, overlooking the Monferrato landscape, perfect for a break and a photo.
The six stops are curated by the wineries of the Valle Bagnario, including Bagnario di Ivaldi Giampaolo, Bragagnolo Vini Passiti, Cà di Cicul di Salina, Cà du Rüja di Roglia Domenico, Azienda Agricola Marenco, and Azienda Agricola Oddone Prati. They are the guardians of the tradition of passito, a wine that requires patience and care, obtained from the drying of Moscato grapes harvested on the hills of Strevi.
The walk crosses the Vineyard Landscape of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. Walking in this valley means discovering an agricultural landscape shaped by humans over the centuries, where vine cultivation has molded the hills, farmhouses, and villages. The event is organized by the Associazione Produttori Moscato Passito Valle Bagnario, which for over twenty years has promoted the appreciation of Moscato Passito di Strevi DOC and its territory.
The philosophy of the event is slow: no rush, just time dedicated to meeting the producers, tasting local flavors, and contemplating the landscape. It is a perfect opportunity for those who want to get to know the culture of Piedmontese wine up close, combining outdoor activity with the pleasure of dining in the company of those who live and cultivate this land every day.
