The summer festival in Siculiana featuring music, theatre, art, and local traditions
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Mediterranean Summer is the major summer festival promoted by the Municipality of Siculiana, a town in the province of Agrigento perched on the south-western coast of Sicily, just a few kilometres from the Valley of the Temples and the Torre Salsa Nature Reserve. For over a month, the calendar brings life to the town's two hearts every evening: the historic centre, which grew around the Chiaramonte Castle and is dominated by the red dome of the Mother Church, and the seaside village of Siculiana Marina, overlooking one of the most evocative beaches in the Agrigento area.
The programme features over thirty events ranging from theatre to music, and from art to folk traditions. The concept is that of a community celebration capable of speaking to all ages: evening shows in the squares, concerts, theatrical performances, and moments dedicated to folklore and local memory. The festival was created to combine entertainment with identity, celebrating the roots of the village and its connection to the sea.
Among the most characteristic offerings is the Weekend'Arte, featuring evening itineraries that allow visitors to explore the Sanctuary of the Crucifix, which houses the venerated Black Crucifix, the town's patron saint, Palazzo Agnello, the MeTe Museum, and the ASTRO exhibition-museum dedicated to Ayrton Senna. In Siculiana Marina, the Kalat Market comes to life, showcasing local products, craftsmanship, and local creativityโa nod to the village's ancient Arab roots, the old Kalat Sugul.
The Mediterranean Summer places great emphasis on social dimensions, with initiatives designed for the entire community: the Playroom under the stars for children, the "Seniors in the front row" project for those over 70, "A sea of inclusion" for people with disabilities in Siculiana Marina, and environmental awareness campaigns such as "A different summer" and "No cigarette butts".
The festival is traditionally held between July and August: in 2025, the programme ran from 18 July to 29 August. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the Municipality of Siculiana; the programme is usually released shortly before the start on the Municipality's official channels and the local tourism portal.
The 2026 edition of the Mediterranean Summer in Siculiana has not yet been officially announced. Based on previous seasons, the festival is expected to return between July and August with its usual programme spread across the historic centre and Siculiana Marina, dedicated to music, theatre, art, and folk traditions. The detailed programme will be published by the Municipality of Siculiana on its official channels closer to the start of the event.
