The boutique festival of international musical research at the abbey of Sesto al Reghena
There is a corner of western Friuli where Europe's most sophisticated music meets the millennial silence of a Benedictine abbey. It is Sesto al Reghena, a village in the province of Pordenone listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, which becomes the capital every early July for those who love music outside the major commercial circuits. The Sexto 'Nplugged Festival was founded in 2009 and in just over twenty years has established itself as one of the most beloved and respected "boutique" festivals on the peninsula: few names, chosen with meticulous care, in a secluded atmosphere that allows you to experience each concert up close.
The heart of the event is Piazza Castello, the space that opens onto the Abbey of Santa Maria in Sylvis, one of the most important monastic complexes in the northeast. The stage is set between arcades, walls, and the ancient tower, offering spectators a setting that is impossible to replicate elsewhere. The limited capacity is a deliberate choice: people come here not for the crowds, but to listen.
Over the years, Sexto 'Nplugged has hosted names such as St. Vincent, Slowdive, Mogwai, Interpol, The Lumineers, and Billy Corgan, alternating icons of alternative rock with avant-garde proposals and emerging Italian talents. The artistic direction favors curiosity: sophisticated electronica, post-rock, experimental songwriting, and world music coexist on the same bill, always with a particular focus on exclusive dates and projects that are difficult to see live in Italy.
Attending a Sexto concert also means discovering Sesto al Reghena: the Municipality and Pro Sesto accompany the event with a warm welcome, and in the hours before the live performances, the village invites you to stroll through the abbey, the moat, and the historic alleys. It is the ideal festival for those who want to combine quality music, local discovery, and a Friulian summer away from the chaos.
The 2026 edition, the twenty-first, confirms the festival's commitment to avant-garde music with four evenings from July 2 to 5 in Piazza Castello, at the Abbey of Santa Maria in Sylvis.
The detailed hourly schedule for the evenings will be announced by the organization in the weeks preceding the event.
Sesto al Reghena (PN) is reachable from the A4 motorway (Portogruaro exit) in a few minutes by car; the nearest train station is Portogruaro-Caorle.
Tickets for individual evenings and a four-day pass are on sale on Ticketone and Ticketmaster. Advance purchase is recommended due to limited capacity.
Farmhouse accommodations and B&Bs are available in the village and surrounding municipalities; Portogruaro offers further options a short distance away.
