About Sacred Music Festival

The Pordenone International Sacred Music Festival is one of the longest-running and most prestigious sacred music events in northeastern Italy. Between the San Marco Cathedral and Casa Zanussi, it offers concerts, staged performances, and workshops exploring the spiritual repertoire from the Middle Ages to the present day, with a new guiding theme for each edition.

A tradition that speaks to the spirit

For over thirty years, the Pordenone International Sacred Music Festival has brought the great spiritual repertoire to the Friulian city, from Renaissance polyphony to Baroque devotional music, from Byzantine chant to new contemporary productions. Organized by the association Presenza e Cultura, the festival's main venues are the San Marco Cathedral and the modern Casa Zanussi, two locations that bridge history and contemporaneity.

One theme, many paths

Each edition revolves around a central theme that links the concerts into a meaningful journey. The festival is not just a series of performances: staged actions, conferences, and workshops accompany the listening experience, inviting the audience to reflect on the relationship between faith, culture, and art. Among the performers are ensembles specializing in early music and internationally renowned artists.

Towards Pordenone 2027

Under the artistic direction of Franco Calabretto and Eddi De Nadai, the festival is part of the initiative that will make Pordenone the Italian Capital of Culture in 2027. Supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region, and local foundations, it reaffirms the city's role as an international cultural hub.

Atmosphere

Listening to sacred music under the vaults of the San Marco Cathedral, with the Romanesque bell tower watching over the city, is an experience that combines architectural beauty, spirituality, and the highest musical quality. A precious event for those seeking a moment of depth amidst the background noise of daily life.

Sacred Music Festival — edition 2026

The 35th edition of the Pordenone International Sacred Music Festival inaugurates a new three-year cycle on the theme 'Faith and Heresy', with concerts and staged performances between June 11 and July 5, 2026 (with a second autumn block), at the San Marco Cathedral and Casa Zanussi.

The thirty-fifth edition opens a new three-year cycle (2026-2028) with the guiding theme "Faith and Heresy", dedicated to the territories of spiritual and cultural nonconformity, in preparation for Pordenone Italian Capital of Culture 2027. The summer phase takes place between June 11 and July 5, with a second block of events in the autumn.
