The great piano marathon spread throughout the centre of Pordenone
For an entire weekend in June, Pordenone is filled with the notes of the piano. Piano City Pordenone is the Friulian version of the international format born from the idea of pianist Andreas Kern: a great, widespread musical marathon that brings over a hundred concerts and hundreds of pianists to the most diverse locations in the historic centre, from squares to courtyards, from public halls to commercial spaces.
The festival has won over audiences with its ability to make music accessible and surprising: pianos freely available to play scattered throughout the city, free outdoor concerts, and performances in unexpected places create a unique atmosphere, where music leaves the concert halls and becomes part of urban life.
The programming fluidly ranges between classical, jazz, contemporary, and crossover repertoire, offering a sound mosaic capable of speaking to all audiences. Alongside established performers, young talents find their space, in a dialogue between generations and genres that is the hallmark of the event.
Included in the programme of widespread music accompanying Pordenone towards Italian Capital of Culture 2027, Piano City is both a popular and refined celebration. The historic centre becomes an open-air stage, where residents and visitors can stroll from one concert to another, guided by the notes.
From June 19th to 21st, 2026, Pordenone hosts the 8th edition of Piano City. Three days of widespread music with over one hundred concerts, hundreds of Italian and international pianists, and pianos freely available to play, scattered throughout the historic centre, in public spaces, courtyards, and commercial venues.
The programme alternates between grand evenings in the squares and more intimate moments, with a repertoire ranging from classical to jazz to crossover. The event is preceded by a Factory Concert that anticipates the festival's atmosphere.
These events are complemented by over one hundred scattered concerts and pianos freely accessible in the centre. The full programme is published on the festival's official website.
