The oldest blues festival in Friuli Venezia Giulia
When in 1991 a group of enthusiasts founded the first blues festival in Friuli Venezia Giulia, they could hardly have imagined that their gamble would become one of the most anticipated musical events in the Northeast. Today, the Pordenone Blues & Co. Festival is a European-scale event, capable of bringing guitar legends, rock icons, and world music protagonists to the foothills of the Friulian Dolomites.
The formula that made the festival famous is contained in that & Co. that follows the word blues: a declaration of openness. Over the years, the lineup has welcomed blues and rock, but also metal, funk, soul, electronic, and singer-songwriter music, remaining true to the spirit of music played with passion and skill. It is this variety that attracts a diverse audience every summer, filling Pordenone's parks on evenings that have become part of the city's cultural identity.
The heart of the event are Parco San Valentino and Parco IV Novembre, green spaces in the heart of Pordenone transformed for the occasion into open-air arenas. The setting is that of a city enjoying summer evenings with concerts, food stalls, and the typical Friulian conviviality, where music becomes a pretext for getting together.
Organized by the Associazione Pordenone Giovani with the support of the Municipality of Pordenone and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the festival is now part of the major initiative that leads the city to be the Italian Capital of Culture 2027. An award that also recognizes events like this, capable of building a loyal audience and a recognizable musical identity throughout Italy over the years.
For its thirty-fifth anniversary, the Pordenone Blues & Co. Festival presents one of the richest lineups in its history, spread over several evenings in Parco San Valentino and Parco IV Novembre, culminating in a grand finale at the beginning of September.
