The historic grape and folk tradition festival of Anacapri, featuring a friendly rivalry between the island's four districts.
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Settembrata Anacaprese is one of the most beloved folk events in the Campanian islands. Its history dates back to 1923, when a group of artists who had fallen in love with Anacapri decided to thank the local population for their hospitality by organizing small performances at the Hotel Paradiso. From that gesture of gratitude, a festival was born that has become deeply rooted in the identity of the Municipality of Anacapri, on the island of Capri, in the Province of Naples.
The heart of the Settembrata is the friendly competition between the town's four ancient districts: La Porta, Le Boffe, Le Pietre, and Le Stalle. Each district spends weeks working on a theme chosen for the edition and competes on several fronts:
A jury rewards the district that best interprets the theme with creativity and attention to detail, in a spirit of healthy competition that involves both adults and children.
The roots of the event lie in the grape festival and the island's peasant culture. During the Settembrata, the agricultural and artisanal habits of the early 20th century come back to life: ancient crafts, traditional cooking methods, and scenes of rural life, while the streets and squares come alive with theatrical performances and musical entertainment. It is a way to pass down the culture and flavors of Anacapri from generation to generation.
The Settembrata takes place mainly in the historic center of Anacapri, between Piazza San Nicola, Piazza Caprile, the municipal library, and the village streets. It is an open-air, free, and participatory event that brings together residents, islanders, and visitors in one of the most authentic and heartfelt moments of the Capri summer in Campania.
The Settembrata Anacaprese will return in 2026 to enliven the historic center of Anacapri, on the island of Capri, in Campania. The event is traditionally scheduled between the last week of August and the first days of September, but the official dates and the theme of the edition have not yet been announced by the Municipality of Anacapri.
As every year, the core of the festival will be the rivalry between the four districts — La Porta, Le Boffe, Le Pietre, and Le Stalle — with allegorical floats, period costumes, food and wine tours, and performances in the squares. This page will be updated with the detailed program as soon as it is published by the organizers.
Anacapri can only be reached by sea: hydrofoils and ferries connect Marina Grande (Capri) to Naples (Molo Beverello) and Sorrento. From the port of Marina Grande, you can reach Anacapri by bus or taxi along the scenic road.
The Settembrata events are free of charge and take place in the historic center of Anacapri. The detailed program is published every year by the Municipality of Anacapri in the weeks leading up to the event.
We recommend wearing comfortable shoes to navigate the village alleys and booking your accommodation well in advance, given the high tourist season on the island.
