The Agerola potato festival in the village of Santa Maria La Manna
Gusta la Patata is the historic festival dedicated to the Agerola potato, a flagship product of the mountain agriculture of Agerola, a town in the Province of Naples overlooking the Amalfi Coast. The event takes place every year on August 14th, the eve of the Assumption, in the charming village of Santa Maria La Manna, amidst alleys, small squares, and the church that gives the hamlet its name. The event was born as part of the celebrations in honor of Maria Santissima Assunta and combines popular devotion, conviviality, and local cuisine.
Cultivated on the lush valley soils and the terraces of the Lattari Mountains, the Agerola potato is famous for being produced without chemical treatments. During the evening, you can enjoy it in all its variations, in a menu curated by the village chefs and families:
Fiordilatte, another great product of Agerola, accompanies many dishes and testifies to the dairy richness of this plateau.
The food stalls are set up along a dedicated route in the historic village and generally open from 8:00 PM. The evening continues with live music shows and concerts that bring Santa Maria La Manna to life until late at night, in the festive atmosphere typical of the Agerola Ferragosto. Strolling through the illuminated alleys, with the church bell tower in the background and the scent of potato-based dishes in the air, is an essential part of the experience.
The festival is brought to life by the passion of the Comitato La Manna, local families, and business owners, with the collaboration of the Pro Loco Agerola. It is a free admission event that celebrates the rural roots of Agerola and attracts visitors from all over the Amalfi Coast and the Vesuvius area. In a territory known for its fiordilatte, Provolone del Monaco, and scenic trails like the Path of the Gods, Gusta la Patata remains one of the most authentic events of the Campanian summer.
The 21st edition of Gusta la Patata is scheduled for Thursday, August 14, 2026, the eve of the Assumption, in the village of Santa Maria La Manna in Agerola, Province of Naples. As per tradition, the stalls will open in the evening along the route set up in the historic village, offering the Agerola potato in numerous variations, from appetizers and handmade gnocchi to oven-baked pork with potato timbale. The evening will be accompanied by live music and concerts.
Admission is free. At the moment, the artist line-up and the final menu have not yet been released: they will be published by the Comitato La Manna on the official channels (gustalapatata.it website and Facebook page) closer to the event.
