About Il Serchio delle Muse

Every summer, opera returns to the spotlight in Coreglia Antelminelli, in the province of Lucca, as part of the Il Serchio delle Muse festival. At the evocative Limonaia del Forte, in the heart of the historic center, internationally renowned voices perform the most beloved arias by Verdi, Puccini, Leoncavallo, and other great Italian composers. This high-level, free event was established by the Lucca-born bass Luigi Roni to bring great music to the villages of the Serchio Valley.

Great opera in the village of Coreglia Antelminelli

Among the most charming villages in the Middle Serchio Valley, in the province of Lucca, Coreglia Antelminelli hosts one of the most anticipated stops of the Il Serchio delle Muse festival every summer. The setting is the refined Limonaia del Forte, in the heart of the historic center: an intimate and scenic space where the singers' voices resonate within the ancient walls, under the Tuscan summer sky.

A festival born to bring music to the villages

Il Serchio delle Muse is an opera and classical music festival conceived by Maestro Luigi Roni, a world-renowned bass originally from the Serchio Valley, with a clear vision: to bring great music to small towns through free-admission concerts open to everyone. Today, the festival is organized by the Associazione Musicale Il Serchio delle Muse and winds through the entire valley, from north to south, involving numerous municipalities with a program that brings together dozens of Italian and international artists.

What to expect at the Limonaia del Forte

The evening in Coreglia is dedicated entirely to opera: a journey through the most famous pages of Italian melodrama, from the romanticism of Verdi to the verismo of Puccini, Leoncavallo, Giordano, and Ponchielli. The arias are often interspersed with storytelling, guiding the audience to discover the tales and characters behind the works. It is a concert designed for both opera enthusiasts and those approaching this repertoire for the first time.

Coreglia Antelminelli, a village to discover

Ranked among the most beautiful territories in the Province of Lucca and Tuscany, Coreglia Antelminelli is also famous for its tradition of plaster figurines and its Figurine Museum. Attending a concert of the Serchio delle Muse is the perfect opportunity to combine great music with the discovery of an authentic village in the Serchio Valley, amidst views of the Apennines and atmospheres of times gone by.
