Great Italian opera under the stars at the Limonaia del Forte, with free admission
Among the most charming villages in the Middle Serchio Valley, in the province of Lucca, Coreglia Antelminelli hosts one of the most anticipated stops of the Il Serchio delle Muse festival every summer. The setting is the refined Limonaia del Forte, in the heart of the historic center: an intimate and scenic space where the singers' voices resonate within the ancient walls, under the Tuscan summer sky.
Il Serchio delle Muse is an opera and classical music festival conceived by Maestro Luigi Roni, a world-renowned bass originally from the Serchio Valley, with a clear vision: to bring great music to small towns through free-admission concerts open to everyone. Today, the festival is organized by the Associazione Musicale Il Serchio delle Muse and winds through the entire valley, from north to south, involving numerous municipalities with a program that brings together dozens of Italian and international artists.
The evening in Coreglia is dedicated entirely to opera: a journey through the most famous pages of Italian melodrama, from the romanticism of Verdi to the verismo of Puccini, Leoncavallo, Giordano, and Ponchielli. The arias are often interspersed with storytelling, guiding the audience to discover the tales and characters behind the works. It is a concert designed for both opera enthusiasts and those approaching this repertoire for the first time.
Ranked among the most beautiful territories in the Province of Lucca and Tuscany, Coreglia Antelminelli is also famous for its tradition of plaster figurines and its Figurine Museum. Attending a concert of the Serchio delle Muse is the perfect opportunity to combine great music with the discovery of an authentic village in the Serchio Valley, amidst views of the Apennines and atmospheres of times gone by.
The opera concert of Serchio delle Muse in Coreglia Antelminelli is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 9:00 PM, at the Limonaia del Forte in the village's historic center. The Coreglia stop ideally opens the festival season, which in 2026 offers fifteen concerts from July until December 14, with the participation of numerous Italian and international artists and always with free admission.

The program features the most famous arias of the Italian operatic repertoire, from Verdi to Puccini, in an evening designed for enthusiasts and those who want to approach opera in an evocative and accessible setting.
Coreglia Antelminelli can be reached by car via the SS12 Abetone and Brennero state road, exiting at Fornaci di Barga or Ghivizzano and continuing toward the historic center. By train, the nearest station is Ghivizzano-Coreglia on the Lucca–Aulla line, from which the village is just a few kilometers away.
The concert is free to attend, subject to availability. We recommend arriving early to secure a seat at the Limonaia del Forte.
As this is an evening outdoor performance in the historic center, it is advisable to bring a light jacket. For more details on the program, it is useful to consult the official festival website and the channels of the Municipality of Coreglia Antelminelli.
