The Scorzone, Truffle of Monte Peglia

The Scorzone Truffle Festival of Monte Peglia takes place in San Venanzo, in the province of Terni, and celebrates the prized scorzone truffle (the black summer truffle) that grows in the woods of Monte Peglia, an area recognized as a UNESCO MAB Biosphere Reserve. It is one of the most anticipated festivals of the upper Tiber and Umbrian summer for truffle lovers.

A Rich Truffle-Based Menu

In the gastronomic stands, set up in the gardens of Villa Faina, the scorzone is the undisputed protagonist: it seasons appetizers, first courses, and meat dishes, alongside specialties of the Umbrian tradition such as torta al testo. The festival is organized by the volunteers of the San Venanzo Truffle Hunters Association in collaboration with AFOR (Regional Forestry Agency) and with the patronage of the Municipality of San Venanzo.

Music and Conviviality in the Greenery

Every evening the festival is accompanied by live music with orchestras and bands, in a convivial atmosphere that attracts visitors from all over the area. The Scorzone Festival is also an opportunity to discover the Monte Peglia territory, its nature, and the truffle culture, one of Umbria's excellence products.
