The Scorzone Festival, originally launched as the Tuscia Truffle Festival, is the major event dedicated to the summer black truffle that brings life to Cura di Vetralla, a bustling hamlet in the municipality of Vetralla, in the province of Viterbo, Lazio. The event takes place in the green setting of the Parco della Poesia - Villa Arnoldo Foà, an area immersed in nature that transforms for several July evenings into a gourmet village, filled with the aroma of truffles, music, and conviviality.

The Scorzone, the absolute star

The scorzone (Tuber aestivum) is the black truffle that matures during the summer months and is harvested by Tuscia truffle hunters in the woods between the Cimini Mountains and the Viterbo countryside. While less famous than the prized white truffle, it is a true local excellence: aromatic, versatile in the kitchen, and perfect for traditional local dishes. The festival was created specifically to promote this product and boost summer food and wine tourism in Tuscia, bringing the work of local truffle hunters, restaurateurs, and producers to a wider audience.

The market exhibition and the Ring del Cavatore

The beating heart of the event is the truffle market exhibition, where local truffle hunters and exhibitors present and offer tastings of the black gold of Tuscia alongside typical specialties and local artisanal products. Among the most intriguing attractions is the Ring del Cavatore, a space dedicated to live demonstrations with truffle dogs: a rare opportunity to observe the close bond between the hunter and their dog, an authentic heritage of Italian rural culture.

Show cooking, music, and evenings under the stars

The program combines gastronomy and entertainment: show cooking with exceptional chefs who reinterpret the scorzone in creative recipes, tastings curated by local restaurateurs, an artisan market, and, as night falls, live music and DJ sets under the stars, with aperitifs and cocktails at the Bamboo Bar. It is an event designed for everyone: families, foodies, the curious, and nature lovers will each find their own space among the tables in the park.

Cura di Vetralla and the Tuscia region

The festival is organized by the cultural association Vivi La Tuscia and serves as a showcase for the entire territory of the municipality of Vetralla, a village nestled along the ancient Via Cassia at the foot of the Cimini Mountains. The area is rich in attractions: the historic center of Vetralla, the Etruscan 'vie cave' (sunken roads), the oak woods where truffles are harvested, and, nearby, destinations like Viterbo with its medieval San Pellegrino district. A visit to the festival is the perfect excuse for a weekend discovering the most authentic side of Tuscia.

The 2026 edition

Following the success of the inaugural 2025 edition, the Scorzone Festival is expanding: the 2026 edition is scheduled over two weekends, July 10, 11, and 12 and July 17, 18, and 19, 2026, once again at the Parco della Poesia - Villa Arnoldo Foà in Cura di Vetralla. The confirmed format includes the market exhibition, show cooking, the Ring del Cavatore, an artisan market, and musical evenings, with the option to book your table for dinner under the stars.
