About Schwemmalm Open Air

Every spring, the Schwemmalm mountain station, perched at 2,150 metres above St. Walburg in the Ultental Valley, transforms into an open-air stage for the ski season's most anticipated musical event. The Schwemmalm Open Air blends live concerts, traditional Tyrolean folk music, and an après-ski vibe amidst the snow-capped peaks of the Ortler Dolomites. After the high-altitude show, the festivities continue with an after-party at the valley station—a perfect day of sun, snow, and fun to wrap up the South Tyrolean winter.

A high-altitude open-air event in the heart of the Ultental Valley

The Schwemmalm Open Air is the musical festival that brings the Schwemmalm ski area to life every spring, located above the village of St. Walburg in the municipality of Ultimo/Ulten, in the province of Bolzano (South Tyrol). The heart of the event beats at the Schwemmalmbahn cable car mountain station, at an altitude of 2,150 metres, where an outdoor stage is set up amidst snow-covered slopes, framed by the spectacular backdrop of the Ortler Skiarena peaks.

Folk music and après-ski atmosphere

The formula is the tried-and-tested mountain party: live concerts, après-ski rhythms, and the warm, welcoming South Tyrolean musical tradition. Guests reach the summit via cable car, whether on skis or simply to enjoy a sunny day at high altitude alongside skiers, families, and folk music enthusiasts. The event is organised by the Tourismusgenossenschaft Ultental/Proveis in partnership with the Schwemmalm ski resort.

The party continues in the valley

When the curtain falls on the mountain stage, the fun doesn't stop: the after-show party kicks off at the Schwemmalmbahn valley station, featuring DJ sets and music until late. It is the moment when the entire valley gathers to toast to the season just passed, in an informal and festive atmosphere that has become a staple of the South Tyrolean winter calendar.

How it works

Access to the Schwemmalm Open Air is included in your multi-day, seasonal, or daily ski pass. Those wishing to head up solely for the festival only need to pay for the cable car round-trip ticket. Please note that the Ultentalcard is not valid on the day of the Open Air. An event designed to combine sport, nature, and music in one of the most authentic corners of the Ultental Valley.
