The ultimate end-of-season party at 2,150 metres in the Ultental Valley
The Schwemmalm Open Air is the musical festival that brings the Schwemmalm ski area to life every spring, located above the village of St. Walburg in the municipality of Ultimo/Ulten, in the province of Bolzano (South Tyrol). The heart of the event beats at the Schwemmalmbahn cable car mountain station, at an altitude of 2,150 metres, where an outdoor stage is set up amidst snow-covered slopes, framed by the spectacular backdrop of the Ortler Skiarena peaks.
The formula is the tried-and-tested mountain party: live concerts, après-ski rhythms, and the warm, welcoming South Tyrolean musical tradition. Guests reach the summit via cable car, whether on skis or simply to enjoy a sunny day at high altitude alongside skiers, families, and folk music enthusiasts. The event is organised by the Tourismusgenossenschaft Ultental/Proveis in partnership with the Schwemmalm ski resort.
When the curtain falls on the mountain stage, the fun doesn't stop: the after-show party kicks off at the Schwemmalmbahn valley station, featuring DJ sets and music until late. It is the moment when the entire valley gathers to toast to the season just passed, in an informal and festive atmosphere that has become a staple of the South Tyrolean winter calendar.
Access to the Schwemmalm Open Air is included in your multi-day, seasonal, or daily ski pass. Those wishing to head up solely for the festival only need to pay for the cable car round-trip ticket. Please note that the Ultentalcard is not valid on the day of the Open Air. An event designed to combine sport, nature, and music in one of the most authentic corners of the Ultental Valley.
On Saturday, March 21, 2026, the Schwemmalm Open Air returned to the Schwemmalmbahn mountain station (2,150 m), above St. Walburg in the Ultental Valley. After the concerts at the summit, the party continued with the after-show party at the valley station. Admission was included in the ski pass; for those travelling up solely for the event, the cable car ticket cost 22 euros for adults and 11 euros for children. The Ultentalcard was not valid on the day of the Open Air.
The Ultental Valley can be reached by car from Merano by driving up the valley to St. Walburg (Municipality of Ultimo/Ulten). From there, take the Schwemmalmbahn cable car to the mountain station.
