The South Tyrol electric car tour, winding through alpine passes, wineries, and mountain huts
schenna e.motion — electric.experience.südtirol is a three-day event held in Scena/Schenna, a charming village above Merano in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano (Trentino-South Tyrol). Organized by the Tourismusverein Schenna (the local tourist board), this is not a traditional competition: acceleration and battery range are secondary to the slow, mindful discovery of the region behind the wheel of an electric car.
The concept is simple and original: bringing together electric mobility enthusiasts and the curious for a guided journey through some of South Tyrol's most spectacular scenery. Participants cover daily routes of up to 220 kilometers, with stops specifically chosen to showcase local producers, wineries, alpine huts, and traditional farms.
The format alternates between scenic driving and gourmet experiences. One day is dedicated to the Stelvio Pass (2,758 m), one of Europe's most famous alpine roads; another leads into the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, crossing the Renon Plateau and Fiè allo Sciliar. The opening day traverses the southern part of South Tyrol, winding through vineyards and historic estates with cellar tastings.
Along the route, participants engage in fun tests—skill challenges that measure consistency, precision, and driving focus rather than speed: a playful and sustainable way to experience electric vehicles. The evenings, featuring a welcome dinner and a closing awards ceremony, round out the experience with local food and aperitifs.
schenna e.motion showcases a South Tyrol committed to clean energy. The region is renowned for its hydroelectric production, and the event weaves this aspect into the tourism promotion of Scena/Schenna and its surroundings. It is an appointment designed for those who wish to combine a passion for electric driving with the pleasure of fine dining and alpine landscapes in a relaxed, non-competitive setting.
The event takes place in early summer and has become a key reference point for experiential and sustainable tourism in the Merano and Scena/Schenna area.
The 2026 edition of schenna e.motion—the third one—was held from June 1 to 3, 2026, organized by the Tourismusverein Schenna. The program confirmed the experiential e-car rally format, with daily routes of up to 220 km and stops at local businesses, wineries, and alpine huts.
Participants followed a route that touched on some of South Tyrol's most iconic landmarks, alternating between scenic driving, tastings, and traditional precision fun tests. The welcome and closing evenings, including a final awards ceremony, rounded out the experience.
Welcome E-Tour in southern South Tyrol, through vineyards and historic estates, with a stop at the Praeclarus wine bunker of the San Paolo winery for a visit and tasting. In the evening, a welcome event with an "Electrified Aperitivo & Dinner".
