A world tour of flavors in Piazzale della Resistenza
Scandicci Food&Street is the gastronomic event that brings Piazzale della Resistenza to life every spring in the heart of Scandicci, a populous municipality in the metropolitan city of Florence, Tuscany. For three days, the square turns into a large street food village where iconic food trucks offer an authentic "world tour of flavors": a journey through Italian and international tastes designed for the whole family and food lovers alike.
The event's common thread is variety: the food trucks serve specialties from half the world, from Greek pita gyros to Indian samosas, and Asian dishes like bao, takoyaki, and gyoza, to American-style pulled pork. There is also plenty of room for Italian excellence, with great classics like Florentine lampredotto and Sicilian arancini, as well as craft beers and gourmet offerings. There is even a truck dedicated to gluten-free options, with certified dishes suitable for celiacs.
Scandicci Food&Street is about more than just gastronomy. Over the three days, the square hosts live music, DJ sets in the evenings, book presentations, and cultural meetings. One of the event's most recognizable features is the installation of a large real grass lawn, covering over 600 square meters and embellished with ancient olive trees and eco-friendly seating, transforming the square into an open-air lounge for socializing.
The event is also designed for families with children, who can participate in numerous activities for kids: creative workshops, face painting, animal encounters, and other fun offerings spread throughout the green area.
Scandicci Food&Street is organized by Confcommercio of the provinces of Florence and Arezzo, under the patronage of the Municipality of Scandicci and the Florence Chamber of Commerce. The initiative connects with the local commercial fabric through a shopping card that offers discounts at participating businesses. Admission is free, as are all side activities, confirming the popular and inclusive nature of the event.
From April 10 to 12, 2026, Piazzale della Resistenza hosted the third edition of Scandicci Food&Street, confirming the "world tour of flavors" format. Food trucks offered Greek pita gyros, Indian samosas and dishes, Japanese specialties (bao, takoyaki, gyoza), American pulled pork, and great Italian classics like lampredotto and arancini, with a truck dedicated to gluten-free options.
Beyond gastronomy, the three days offered music and DJ sets in the evenings, the presentation of a noir novel by writer Pasquale Sgrò, and a meeting with actor Massimiliano Galligani. For the little ones, there was face painting, alpaca encounters, and pony rides, all on the large real grass lawn with ancient olive trees.
Piazzale della Resistenza is located in the center of Scandicci, easily reachable from Florence via the tram (line T1), Resistenza stop. By car, Scandicci is connected to the Florence-Pisa-Livorno highway (Scandicci exit) and the A1 motorway. Those arriving by train can get off at Florence Santa Maria Novella station and continue by tram.
The event is open daily from 11:00 AM to midnight. Free admission, as well as all side activities. Gluten-free options are available.
