The night that wraps up Scafati's summer: music, cabaret, and shops open until dawn
The Scafati White Night is the event that, every end of summer, wraps up the Scafati Summer festival promoted by the municipal administration. For one night, the center of this town in the province of Salerno, in the heart of the Agro nocerino-sarnese, stays awake until the early hours: streets are closed to vehicular traffic, shops remain open well past their usual hours, and the main squares fill with stages, lights, and crowds. It is the most attended event of the Scafati summer calendar, designed to attract not only residents but also visitors from neighboring towns.
The format follows the classic style of White Nights in Southern Italy: multiple performance areas active simultaneously, connected by a pedestrian route through the center. The main hubs are Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Piazza Garibaldi, and the Cavalcavia Longobardi area, where the stage for the closing concertโwhich keeps the city awake until lateโis set up. Along the route, there is space for performances by emerging local bands, dance schools, comedy acts, and entertainment for children.
The musical program alternates between Neapolitan and neomelodic songs and Italian pop, with a selection of artists capable of appealing to audiences of all ages. Over the years, the Scafati stage has hosted performers such as Michele Zarrillo and Tony Colombo in 2025, and previously Sal Da Vinci, Tony Tammaro, and Franco Ricciardi. The 2026 edition features Andrea Sannino, the comedy duo Arteteca, comedian Francesco Procopio, and a grand finale by Noemi. Admission to all performance areas is free.
Beyond the concerts, the White Night is above all a celebration of local commerce. Shop windows in the center remain illuminated, and stores welcome visitors until late at night, while stands and food stalls offer street food and local specialties. It is the occasion when families head out together: strollers and grandparents, groups of teenagers, and friends moving from one square to another following the music.
With over fifty thousand inhabitants, Scafati is one of the most populous towns in the province of Salerno, situated on the banks of the Sarno River, near the border with the province of Naples and just minutes from the archaeological site of Pompeii. This position as a gateway between two provinces makes the White Night an event with a strong regional appeal: on the night of the festival, the center fills with visitors from across the Agro nocerino-sarnese and the Vesuvius area.
The event traditionally falls in the first half of September as the closing act of the municipal summer program. In 2025, the White Night was held on Saturday, September 6; in 2026, it is scheduled for Friday, September 4. Performance times are released in the weeks leading up to the event by the Municipality of Scafati and local press, along with traffic ordinances.
On Friday, September 4, 2026, Scafati experiences its longest night. The event concludes the Scafati Summer 2026 program, the summer festival promoted by the municipal administration led by Mayor Pasquale Aliberti, which has enlivened squares, the municipal villa, and Centro Plaza with children's shows, concerts, and literary events since late June.
The evening's program unfolds across three hubs in the center. It starts at 8:30 PM in Piazza Garibaldi with the comedy duo Arteteca, followed at 9:30 PM, also in Piazza Garibaldi, by comedian Francesco Procopio. At 10:00 PM, the baton passes to Piazza Vittorio Veneto with a concert by Andrea Sannino. The grand finale is entrusted to Noemi, on the stage in the Cavalcavia Longobardi area starting at 11:30 PM: for the Roman singer, this is one of the dates of her summer tour resumption following her injury last season.
Surrounding the concerts, as per tradition, the center remains closed to vehicular traffic, shops stay open until late at night, and there is no shortage of street food stalls. Admission to all performance areas is free.
Throughout the evening, the city center remains pedestrianized, with shops open until late and street food stalls. Times may be subject to change: it is recommended to check the updates published by the Municipality of Scafati in the days leading up to the event.
By car: take the Scafati exit on the A3 Naples-Salerno motorway, then follow signs for the center. By train: the Scafati station is served by the Circumvesuviana line; the Pompeii station is also useful for those arriving from Naples or Salerno. By bus: Busitalia lines 4, 50, and 77, and the EAV 001 line connect Scafati to neighboring towns.
During the White Night, the Municipality closes numerous streets in the center to all vehicular traffic, usually from late afternoon until 2:00 AM, with temporary bus route diversions and terminal relocations. It is advisable to leave your car in peripheral areas and reach the center on foot, and to check the municipal ordinances published in the days prior.
Access to all performance areas is free and no reservation is required. Only food and drink at stalls and purchases at commercial establishments are paid.
Arrive early to find a spot near the main stages, especially for the closing concert at Cavalcavia Longobardi. Wear comfortable shoes: the best part of the evening is walking from one square to another. The event is also suitable for families with children, thanks to dedicated entertainment areas.
