The Saracen Asparagus Festival is one of the most beloved spring celebrations in the Piedmontese hills, drawing curious visitors, food lovers, and families every year to Piazza San Marco, the heart of the village.

The Saracen asparagus is a variety historically grown on the hills of Vinchio: a niche, fragrant, and delicate product that has found ideal growing conditions in this territory. The festival was created specifically to showcase this vegetable and keep alive an agricultural tradition that has linked the Vinchio community to its land for generations. The entire event revolves around the asparagus, from the traditional lunch dishes to the stalls of local producers.

A day of taste and tradition

The day's program combines gastronomy and entertainment. The highlight is the traditional lunch, a menu entirely dedicated to asparagus and local flavors, from friciulin (savory fritters) to asparagus in Vinchio-style sauce, leading up to a sweet grand finale. Alongside the lunch, the square comes alive from the morning with:

• the spring market featuring farm-to-table products, gifts, and handicrafts;
• the agricultural machinery and equipment fair;
• free guided tours of the village museums;
• falconry shows and demonstrations by canine units;
• the opportunity to rent e-bikes to explore the surrounding hills.

A community event

The Saracen Asparagus Festival is organized by the Vinchio Pro Loco, active since 1965, with the patronage of the Municipality. For nearly half a century, the festival has been one of the most important dates on the Vinchio calendar and an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Monferrato, a land of wines, UNESCO-listed vineyard landscapes, and rich, genuine country cuisine.
