A food and wine walk through the traditional products of Val Borbera
Sapori in Cammino is the highlight of the 2026 summer season in Cabella Ligure, a small village in the upper Val Borbera, in the Province of Alessandria, in the heart of the Apennine Piedmont. It is a fun and convivial food and wine walk, designed to introduce participants to local products, De.Co. (Municipal Designation) brands, and local farms while walking along the village paths and roads.
The idea behind the event is simple and charming: to turn a nature walk into a culinary journey. Along the route, participants meet small producers who preserve the ancient gastronomic traditions of the valley, featuring cheeses, cured meats, honey, and traditional baked goods from the Ligurian-Piedmontese Apennines. Cabella Ligure has always been a small bastion of mountain agriculture, where knowledge and crafts survive, which the event aims to promote and share with a wider audience.
Sapori in Cammino is part of the rich Cabella Estate 2026 calendar, a series of events that focuses on the community, local culture, and the region's gastronomy. Promoted by the Municipality of Cabella Ligure, the event joins other summer appointments in the Borbera area, helping to keep alive the identity of a village nestled in the woods at the border of the Four Provinces.
For those who love the combination of nature, hiking, and gastronomy, Sapori in Cammino is the perfect invitation to enjoy a different kind of day, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, amidst the genuine flavours of the Piedmontese mountains.
The 2026 edition of Sapori in Cammino takes place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, in Cabella Ligure and is the first edition of this new event included in the Cabella Estate calendar. It is a fun-filled walk through the traditional products, De.Co. brands, and local farms of the upper Val Borbera.
The detailed program, including times, meeting points, routes, and registration procedures, will be announced by the Municipality of Cabella Ligure in the weeks leading up to the event. It is recommended to check the official municipal channels for updates.
Cabella Ligure can be reached by car from the Vignole Borbera motorway exit (A7 Milan-Genoa), continuing along the Val Borbera towards the upper valley. The village is about an hour from Genoa and a little more from Alessandria. There are no direct rail links: the nearest station is Arquata Scrivia.
The event is organized by the Municipality of Cabella Ligure. For details on times, meeting points, routes, and how to participate, it is recommended to check the Municipality's website or contact the municipal offices (tel. +39 0143 919557).
Comfortable clothing and suitable walking shoes are recommended. As this is an outdoor mountain event, it is useful to bring water and a light jacket.
