The autumn fair of flavours and crafts of the upper Val Trebbia, in Coli
The Mountain Products Review is the autumn event that, for over forty years, has enlivened the village of Coli, in the upper Val Trebbia, in the Province of Piacenza (Emilia-Romagna). Every October, Piazza Aldo Moro, the heart of the town, transforms into a large open-air market dedicated to the fruits of the forest and undergrowth, products from local farms, and valley crafts. It is one of the most cherished fairs in this corner of the Apennines, capable of attracting locals, hikers, and visitors in search of genuine seasonal flavours.
The event showcases what the mountains offer in autumn. Along the stalls in the square, you'll find agricultural producers from the area and gatherers of wild products, with a particular focus on everything that grows in the valley's woods.
Alongside the producers' stalls, the food stands offer the typical dishes of the day: polenta with game, local cured meats, and the ever-present roasted chestnuts, a symbol of autumn in Val Trebbia.
Coli is a small mountain municipality nestled among chestnut woods and pine forests in the upper Val Trebbia, in a landscape of streams, trails, and ancient hamlets. Its location, along the roads leading up to the Apennines, makes it an ideal destination for nature and tradition lovers. The Mountain Products Review stems precisely from this deep connection between the community and its territory: a celebration that values the work of local producers and keeps the gastronomic culture of the Piacenza mountains alive.
More than just a fair, the review is a day of celebration for the entire community: a stroll among the stalls in the square, a roasted chestnut in hand, and the aroma of polenta in the October air. Over the years, the event has also been enriched with side activities, such as gatherings for off-road enthusiasts, which further liven up the village. It's the perfect opportunity to discover the upper Val Trebbia in its full autumn colours.
