The tastes and scents of autumn among the products of the earth and the Resartico mine
When the woods of the Julian Prealps are tinged with the colours of autumn, the small municipality of Resiutta, at the entrance to the Val Resia in the province of Udine, celebrates its most heartfelt day: the Festa dell'Agricoltura – Sapori e Profumi d'Autunno. On the first Sunday of October, the village streets fill with stalls, tastings, and visitors, in a celebration of the land and its fruits that combines gastronomy, nature, and culture.
The heart of the festival is the exhibition market of the region's agri-food products, a cross-border market that brings together zero-kilometre producers from the Friulian mountains and nearby valleys. Along the village streets, you can taste the specialties of typical gastronomy and discover preserves, cheeses, honeys, and garden produce, in a journey of taste that enhances mountain agriculture and its guardians.
A unique feature of Resiutta is its Resartico mine: during the festival, you can take part in guided excursions along the Resartico stream valley and into the historic tunnels, as well as visit the mine museum. For those seeking a gentler experience, accessible nature walks and moments of forest bathing, immersion in the woods with park guides, are offered.
The day is enriched by workshops for children and adults — from creating autumn mosaics to natural fibre talismans — by itinerant music (with groups like AlpenTrio), charity raffles, and historical re-enactments. Organised by the Municipality of Resiutta, the Pro Loco (local tourism board), and the Natural Park of the Julian Prealps Authority, the festival is the perfect synthesis of a territory that makes nature and tradition its identity.
In 2026, Resiutta will once again celebrate autumn with its Festa dell'Agricoltura, scheduled for the first Sunday of October. The formula combining a market of local products, typical gastronomy, excursions to the Resartico mine, workshops for all ages, and itinerant music, with the involvement of the Natural Park of the Julian Prealps, is confirmed.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by the organisers. Based on recent editions, the day will include:
