The feast of the co-patron saint of Castel Condino, in the heart of the Valle del Chiese
The Sant'Eugenia Festival is one of the most cherished summer events in Castel Condino, a tiny village of about two hundred and fifty inhabitants nestled in the Valle del Chiese, in the western part of Trentino (Province of Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige region). The festival is dedicated to Saint Eugenia, the village's co-patron saint along with Saint George, and represents a precious occasion for the small community to gather and celebrate its traditions.
The festival takes place at the Boazzo sports field and is passionately organized by the Pro Loco of Castel Condino, an association that has been enlivening the village's event calendar for decades. Live music, dancing, food stalls serving typical Trentino dishes, and convivial moments mark the day: it is the classic spirit of mountain village festivals, where genuine hospitality and community bonds take center stage.
Perched on the eastern slope of Dos del Gal, between the valley floor and the Boniprati plateau, Castel Condino preserves a fascinating historical heritage. The Church of San Giorgio, with its Roman-era foundations and a bell tower still visible today, testifies to the antiquity of the settlement, located along an ancient transit route that connected the valley to Val Camonica. Discoveries of Roman-era tombs and coins confirm a very ancient human presence in this corner of the Giudicarie.
Participating in the Sant'Eugenia Festival means discovering an authentic Trentino far from the major tourist flows, made of small villages, green mountains, and traditions passed down from generation to generation. The Valle del Chiese, between Lake Idro and the Brenta Dolomites, offers pristine landscapes and a warm welcome: the festival is the ideal opportunity to experience its most genuine spirit.
The 2026 Sant'Eugenia Festival is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Boazzo sports field in Castel Condino, in the Valle del Chiese. The date has been confirmed by the Pro Loco on the village's official website. As every year, the festival will feature live music, festivities, and food stalls with the flavors of Trentino tradition. The full program, including times and events for the day, will be released by the Pro Loco of Castel Condino in the weeks preceding the event.
Castel Condino is located in the Valle del Chiese, in western Trentino. By car, it can be reached from the SS237 del Caffaro road, exiting towards the Giudicarie; the Boazzo area, where the festival is held, is signposted within the village. The nearest train stations are in Brescia or Trento, from where you can continue by car or local public transport.
The festival is free to attend. Food stalls serving traditional Trentino dishes are available at village-festival prices.
