The traditional neighborhood festival of Piedicastello in Trento
The Sant'Apollinare Festival is the traditional neighborhood fair of Piedicastello, the historic district of Trento nestled at the foot of Doss Trento, in Trentino-Alto Adige. Every year, around mid-July, the event transforms the district square into a vibrant gathering space where residents, families, and visitors come together for three days of festivities dedicated to the patron saint.
The festival is organized by the Comitato Feste S. Apollinare, with the support of neighborhood associations, particularly the local Alpini (ANA Piedicastello) group, who have always managed the kitchen and the traditional community lunch. It is a grassroots event that has regained momentum over the years thanks to the redevelopment of the square, which has returned to being the hub of district life.
The program unfolds over the weekend with a rich calendar of events for all ages:
The devotional heart of the festival is the solemn mass on Sunday in honor of Sant'Apollinare, followed by an aperitif in the square and the community lunch prepared by the Alpini, one of the most heartfelt and well-attended moments of the entire event. The day concludes with awards ceremonies, an evening concert, and the unmissable raffle drawing.
Throughout the festival, food stands serve traditional Trentino dishes and local products, while the "Scrigno" area at the foot of Doss Trento offers local wines and specialties. Admission to the events is free: the Sant'Apollinare Festival remains one of the most authentic neighborhood fairs in Trento, capturing the identity of Piedicastello and the sense of community that drives it.
The 2026 edition of the Sant'Apollinare Festival returns to the Piedicastello neighborhood (Trento) from Friday, July 18 to Sunday, July 20, 2026, with the full program published by the Festival Committee on the district's official website. Three days at the foot of Doss Trento featuring tradition, sport, music, and conviviality.
The weekend offers a youth soccer tournament with evening finals, the characteristic 'corsa coi serci' race, the 'Colori ed Emozioni' painting competition, orienteering on Doss Trento, live concerts, and dance evenings. Sunday is dedicated to the solemn mass in honor of Sant'Apollinare, an aperitif in the square, the community lunch prepared by the Piedicastello Alpini group, children's workshops, awards ceremonies, and the raffle drawing.
