Four days of gastronomy, music, and devotion in Piazza Marconi, Montesilvano
Every July, Piazza Marconi in Montesilvano, a coastal town in the province of Pescara, becomes the beating heart of the Sant'Antonio Festival and Patronal Feast. Organized by the Parish of Sant'Antonio da Padova, the event weaves together devotion to the district's patron saint with four evenings of conviviality, great food, and live entertainment. It is one of the most cherished and well-attended events of the city's summer, drawing residents and visitors from across the Abruzzo Adriatic coast.
The heart of the festival lies in its food stalls, which open every evening around 7:00 PM. Rooted in tradition, they offer local dishes and Abruzzese specialties, accompanied by draft beer and festive desserts. The long outdoor tables create that genuine, convivial atmosphere that turns a village festival into a collective ritual: dining together, chatting, and waiting for the evening shows to begin.
From approximately 9:30 PM, the stage set up in Piazza Marconi hosts free-entry concerts and performances. Over the years, the lineup has featured tribute bands dedicated to Italian music legends, dance orchestras, DJ sets, and entertainment for young people and families. The event traditionally concludes with a dance orchestra performance and the highly anticipated lottery draw, with tickets sold in the days leading up to the event at local businesses.
The festival is born and thrives around the figure of Sant'Antonio da Padova, the patron saint of Montesilvano, whose parish is located right on Piazza Marconi. The religious and popular dimensions have always coexisted: the saint's feast gives meaning to the entire event, uniting faith, tradition, and community. It is a model of an authentic neighborhood festival, deeply rooted in the social fabric of Montesilvano and the Adriatic Abruzzo region.
