The Sanremo Rock & Trend Festival is the historic competition dedicated to emerging music that culminates on the stage of the Ariston Theatre in Sanremo (province of Imperia). Divided into two sections — Rock and Trend — it welcomes artists and bands of rock, indie, alternative, and pop rock genres.
From preliminaries to the final
The festival follows a path that starts in February with the regional preliminaries, continues with inter-regional selections (North, Centre, South), and concludes with the national final at the Ariston. Candidates register online with an original song or video, are evaluated by selectors, and if admitted, proceed to the subsequent stages up to the grand finale.
A springboard for new talents
For many emerging artists, performing on the Ariston stage represents a milestone and an opportunity to gain national recognition. The Sanremo Rock & Trend Festival thus confirms itself as one of the longest-running and most recognized competitions on the Italian music scene, capable of intercepting new trends and giving space to young artists.
Sanremo Rock — edition 2026
The 2026 edition, the 39th, brings the National Final to the Ariston Theatre on September 11th and 12th, with the grand finale on Saturday, September 12th at 6:30 PM. The two sections, Rock and Trend, feature emerging artists and bands of rock, indie, alternative, and pop rock genres.
The finalists reached the Ariston through the selection process that began in February: regional preliminaries, inter-regional stages (North, Centre, South), and final selections.
Programme Sanremo Rock 2026
Ariston Theatre — 11 and 12 September
- Friday, September 11th — National Final evening with finalist performances;
- Saturday, September 12th, 6:30 PM — Grand finale and announcement of the winners of the Rock and Trend sections.
Admitted genres: rock, indie, alternative, and pop rock. The names of the finalists will be announced by the organization at the end of the selection process.

How to get there
The Ariston Theatre is in the centre of Sanremo, reachable on foot from the train station. By car, take the Sanremo exit on the A10 motorway.
