The first concert season of Diano Castello between sacred and lyrical music
Castrum Musicae is a cultural initiative debuting in 2026 in Diano Castello, a village in the Gulf of Diano in the province of Imperia. The event combines classical and sacred music with the historical heritage of the town, with concerts held in the churches and squares of the centre. Artistic direction is entrusted to Nicholas Tagliatini, a bass singer and pianist.
The programme for the first season spans different genres and locations: it opens with sacred music with the minor Via Crucis in the Parish Church of San Nicola, continues in the summer with the lyrical event 'Sorrisi Lirici' in the square, touches on baroque with the Dixit Dominus in the Collegiate Church, and concludes with an opera title at the Concordia Theatre. A journey that enhances the musical and architectural heritage of the village.
The historic churches of Diano Castello, from the Parish Church to the Collegiate Church of San Nicola da Bari, offer a highly evocative acoustic and visual setting. Castrum Musicae aims to make music a vehicle for discovering the village, in dialogue with other Diano traditions such as Castrum Diani and the Vermentino Prize.
With free admission, the event is born with the ambition of becoming a stable fixture in the cultural calendar of the Gulf of Diano, capable of attracting lovers of cultured music in an authentic setting on the Ligurian Riviera di Ponente.
The inaugural season of Castrum Musicae for 2026 offers a programme spanning the spring and summer of Diano Castello. All concerts start at 9 PM and are free admission, under the artistic direction of Nicholas Tagliatini.
It begins on March 28th with sacred music in the Parish Church of San Nicola, continues on July 5th with opera in the square, and on September 19th with great baroque repertoire in the Collegiate Church. The project also includes a grand operatic finale at the Concordia Theatre in early 2027.
Diano Castello is reachable in a few minutes from Diano Marina, exit Imperia Est on the A10 motorway. The historic centre is pedestrianised.
All concerts in the season are free admission. Information and updates on the Castrum Musicae social media channels.
