The spring fair of Garrufo

The San Vincenzo Ferreri Fair is one of the most anticipated spring events in the village of Garrufo, located in Sant'Omero, in the province of Teramo. Held in honor of the parish's patron saint, it attracts visitors every year from across the Val Vibrata and neighboring towns in the Teramo region of Abruzzo.

Stalls, local products, and crafts

For an entire day, the village streets transform into a large open-air market. Stalls line Via Nazionale and the central Piazza XXV Aprile, offering a vast assortment of goods: clothing, homeware, local handicrafts, traditional Abruzzese gastronomy, sweets, and seasonal specialties. The fair is also a key opportunity for market traders, who participate annually through the municipality's stall allocation process.

An event for families

The heart of the event is its family-friendly and convivial atmosphere: alongside the market stalls, the organizers set up an area dedicated to children with free bouncy castles and various attractions. Each edition also features entertainment and performances that enliven the day, blending commercial activity with a festive, recreational spirit.

Tradition and the local area

Garrufo, whose ancient core dates back to the Roman Castrum Rufi, sits at 166 meters above sea level in the Vibrata Valley. Its parish church, dedicated to San Vincenzo Ferreri, preserves the devotion that gives the fair its name. The event is part of the long-standing tradition of local fairs in the Sant'Omero area, historically linked to the livestock markets and trade fairs that once defined the rhythm of rural life in Abruzzo.

The San Vincenzo Ferreri Fair is organized by the Municipality of Sant'Omero in collaboration with the Pro Loco Garrufo APS, with the goal of promoting the local area and traditions while offering the community a day of relaxation and fun for all ages.
