The San Vigilio Festival is the feast dedicated to the patron saint of Nago, a historic village overlooking Lake Garda and a district of the Nago-Torbole municipality in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). San Vigilio, the third bishop of Trento and patron of the city and the Trentino Church, is celebrated on June 26th: around this date, the village dresses up for the occasion, hosting several evenings of conviviality that weave together devotion, tradition, and fun.
The heart of the event is the Piazzòla, the historic square in the center of Nago, where the food stands, bar, and stage are located. The festival is organized by the Associazione San Vigilio Nago, which brings together many local youths from the parish, in collaboration with AC Nago-Torbole and with the patronage of the municipality. Over the years, the event has grown in stature, becoming an important appointment not only for residents but also for the many tourists visiting the Upper Garda Trentino area in summer.
The culinary offering is one of the highlights of the festival. During the festival evenings, traditional Trentino dishes and local specialties are served: spit-roasted meat with polenta, mixed fried fish, and above all the famous lake-style Fish & Chips, prepared with fish from Lake Garda, as well as sandwiches, fries, and local products served as appetizers. The bar and dining service is available throughout the evenings.
The most curious and iconic element of the festival is the toga race, a lighthearted obstacle course that winds through the streets of Nago, starting from the Piazzòla. Born as a local pastime, it has become a small tradition capable of attracting audiences and participants in costume, amidst laughter and community spirit.
Alongside the gastronomic and recreational aspects, the program alternates musical moments with DJ sets and live concerts, as well as more intimate appointments such as the Holy Mass in honor of the patron saint, accompanied by local brass bands. The San Vigilio Festival thus remains one of the most heartfelt patronal feasts in the Nago-Torbole municipality, capable of uniting the religious dimension with a festive atmosphere in a unique landscape, between Lake Garda and the mountains of the Upper Garda Trentino.
The festival takes place in the Piazzòla, in the historic center of Nago, a village in the municipality of Nago-Torbole (TN), just a few kilometers from Torbole sul Garda and Riva del Garda.
