Flavours, traditions, and show-cooking to celebrate the Nebrodi mountains
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The San Teodoro Spring Food Expo is a spring food and wine festival held in San Teodoro, a small town of just over 1,200 inhabitants nestled at the entrance to the Nebrodi Park in the province of Messina, offering an extraordinary view of Mount Etna. Created as a showcase for the region, the event aims to promote the pristine beauty of the Nebrodi through food, traditions, and the warm hospitality of a mountain community proud of its roots.
The heart of the festival revolves around two themes deeply rooted in the area: local cheeses, the result of ancient pastoral traditions, and alimurgic and phytoalimurgic plants—the wild edible greens that have always enriched the local peasant cuisine. Surrounding these protagonists is a programme of exhibition stands, tastings, and in-depth sessions with experts, university professors, and local producers.
The Spring Food Expo days alternate between show-cooking sessions, thematic meetings, and performances. The show-cooking events offer the public a modern take on traditional products, while talks by agri-food experts and local cheesemakers provide insight into the Nebrodi cheese supply chain. There are also sessions dedicated to wild edible plants, excursions to discover the surrounding landscape, workshops for children, and musical entertainment with evening DJ sets.
Promoted by the Municipality of San Teodoro with the patronage of the Regional Department of Agriculture, the Spring Food Expo serves as an opportunity to enhance the excellence and traditions of the Nebrodi, support local businesses, and shine a spotlight on a Sicilian village in the Messina hinterland that is still little-known to the general public. It is a showcase designed for those who love slow tourism, authentic flavours, and the nature of mountain Sicily.
At the moment, the organisers have not yet announced the official dates for the 2026 edition of the San Teodoro Spring Food Expo. Following the success of the first edition in 2025, the festival is expected to return in the spring to San Teodoro (Messina), in the heart of the Nebrodi, with exhibition stands, show-cooking, local cheese tastings, in-depth sessions on alimurgic plants, excursions, and activities for families. It is recommended to check for updated information with the Municipality of San Teodoro.
San Teodoro (ME), in the heart of the Nebrodi mountains. Events take place in the historic centre and near the Town Hall.
A car is the most convenient way to travel: San Teodoro can be reached from the Messina hinterland via the provincial roads of the Nebrodi Park. The nearest railway stations and motorway exits are located on the Tyrrhenian coast (A20 Messina-Palermo line and motorway), from where you continue inland.
As this is a mountain village, it is advisable to check the dates of the current edition via the Municipality of San Teodoro and to wear comfortable footwear for excursions and sightseeing. Spring is the ideal season to discover the blossoms and wild plants of the Nebrodi.
