The Christmas festival program in Adrano, at the foot of Mount Etna
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In Adrano, an ancient Norman city in the province of Catania, Christmas lasts more than just one day: Christmas Harmonies is the widespread program that the Municipality sets up every year from the Feast of the Immaculate Conception until Epiphany, transforming squares, churches, and public spaces into a large festive village. Concerts, markets, shows, food festivals featuring local products, and activities for children follow one another for nearly a month, bringing the historic center of this Etna town to life.
The hub of the events is the city center: Piazza Umberto hosts the illuminated tree, the inauguration with light shows, and the little train that travels through the streets of the center, while the Arena dell'Etna becomes the main stage for concerts, choirs, dance performances, and tastings. The Giardino della Vittoria welcomes the Santa Claus village and the artistic nativity scene, while the Market Area hosts the living nativity scene and the Christmas markets.
The program weaves together classical and folk music: Christmas concerts by school groups, choirs, gospel performances, brass and percussion bands, dance shows, and cabaret. There is no shortage of creative workshops, street entertainment, food festivals, and moments dedicated to charity. The closing is entrusted to the Befana, with entertainment and gifts for children on January 6th.
An event promoted by the Municipality of Adrano, Christmas Harmonies is designed as a widespread and largely free program, capable of enhancing the historical heritage and traditions of this Etna city and attracting visitors from all over eastern Sicily during the holidays.
The dates and program for the 2026 edition of Christmas Harmonies in Adrano have not yet been announced at the time of writing. The event, organized by the Municipality of Adrano, traditionally takes place during the Christmas holiday period, from December 8th to January 6th.
Based on past editions, it is likely that the program will once again feature concerts, choirs, markets, nativity scenes, the Santa Claus village, food festivals featuring local products, and the traditional ritual of lighting the Zucco in Piazza Duomo. The detailed program will be published by the Municipality in the weeks leading up to the start of the event.
Adrano is located in the province of Catania, on the southwestern slope of Mount Etna. By car, from the A18/A19 motorway, it can be reached via the SS121 and SS284; by train, it is served by the Ferrovia Circumetnea line that connects Catania to Riposto.
Traditionally from December 8th to January 6th. Events are concentrated in the historic center (Piazza Umberto, Arena dell'Etna, Giardino della Vittoria, Market Area).
Most events have free admission; some concerts may require a ticket. The Christmas markets are open from Monday to Thursday from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and on holidays and weekends from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
