San Severo Summer

A city that comes alive on summer evenings

San Severo Summer is the initiative through which the Municipality of San Severo, via the Department of Culture, fills the months of July and August with free events. It is not a single event but a widespread festival: the evenings move from square to square, from the MAT — Museum of the Alto Tavoliere to the evocative Cloister of Palazzo Celestini, from Piazza del Carmine to Piazza Municipio, and even to the Villa Comunale Luisa Fantasia. It represents the cultural summer of one of the largest cities in the Capitanata region, in the heart of northern Puglia.

Theatre, cinema, and music under the stars

The programme weaves together different artistic expressions. Theatre finds its home in the "R-Esistenze Teatrali" festival curated by Spazio Off, featuring performances and reinterpretations at the MAT. The open-air cinema screens films for all audiences in the setting of the Cloister of Palazzo Celestini. Live music enlivens the squares of the historic centre, from the itinerant evenings of "Music under the stars" to concerts dedicated to the Neapolitan tradition and singer-songwriter music.

A space for families and children

Alongside the evening shows, San Severo Summer pays special attention to the little ones: the Villa Comunale hosts animated readings, creative workshops, and games, while the theatrical offerings often include reinterpretations of fairy tales designed for children and families.

An art city of the Apulian Baroque, San Severo is known for its bell towers, historic churches, and the famous Festa del Soccorso with its pyrotechnic displays. The summer festival complements this heritage with a contemporary and popular cultural offering, capable of helping residents and visitors rediscover the most beautiful urban spaces of the city in the province of Foggia.
