The patron saint festival of Cimone

The San Rocco Patronal Festival is the most cherished event of the year for the small municipality of Cimone, in the province of Trento, in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige. The village, nestled on the slopes of Monte Bondone above the Adige Valley, dedicates a day of celebration to its patron saint, held annually around August 16th, the liturgical feast day of Saint Roch.

Faith and community

The religious heart of the festival is the parish church of San Rocco, located in the hamlet of Covelo, the municipal seat and the main hub of the numerous scattered hamlets that make up the territory. The solemn mass in honor of the patron saint draws residents from the various districts and many who return to their hometown for the occasion, in a ritual that has marked the summer in Cimone for generations.

A mountain village festival

Surrounding the religious observance is the festival itself, brought to life by the local community. The traditional program includes music and dancing, entertainment for adults and children, and above all, authentic Trentino cuisine served at the food stalls set up for the occasion. It is a typical summer mountain event where the village comes together, enjoying genuine dishes, good company, and the simple, convivial atmosphere of Trentino's mountain hamlets.

Between Monte Bondone and the Adige Valley

Cimone is a small, scattered municipality of a few hundred inhabitants, immersed in a landscape of mountain agriculture, meadows, and forests, just a short distance from the city of Trento. Its panoramic position on the slopes of Monte Bondone and its proximity to hiking trails make the San Rocco Festival an ideal opportunity to discover an authentic and still little-known corner of Trentino, far from the major tourist flows.
