The San Rocco Festival is the patronal feast of Miola, a village in the municipality of Baselga di Pinè, in the heart of the Piné Plateau in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Dedicated to San Rocco, whose feast day is August 16th, the festival is traditionally held in mid-August, coinciding with the Ferragosto holiday, and is one of the most cherished events on the plateau's calendar.
The event maintains its deep devotional roots: in the morning, a solemn mass is celebrated in the parish church of San Rocco, while in the afternoon, around 3:00 PM, the procession carrying the saint's statue winds through the village streets. It is a ritual that annually renews the bond between the Miola community and its patron, with the participation of local clergy and residents from across the plateau.
The festival was once held at the oratory, but for many years it has been hosted at the Miola ice rink, which provides ample covered space to welcome stalls and thousands of visitors. Here, under the marquee, the social heart of the festival thrives, managed with passion by the volunteers of the La Grenz de Miola association.
Throughout the event, a full bar and kitchen service is available, featuring typical Trentino specialties. The traditional program, spread across the days surrounding August 16th, includes:
