The patronal feast of Correggio with the Fricandò street artists festival
The San Quirino Fair is the grand patronal feast of Correggio, a city of art in the province of Reggio Emilia, in Emilia-Romagna. Dedicated to the community's patron saints, it draws thousands of people each year to the historic center from the towns of the Bassa reggiana and the entire region. For a few days, the streets and squares of the ancient heart fill with music, scents, lights, and people, in that mix of the sacred and the profane typical of Emilia's village festivals.
The most anticipated moment is Fricandò, the festival of street artists and ingenuity that mainly animates Corso Mazzini. Now in its twenty-first edition, it brings together jugglers, acrobats, tightrope walkers, clowns, musicians, and performers who perform along the streets of the center, transforming every corner into a small stage. It is a widespread and free show, designed for families, children, and the curious of all ages, who stroll between performances until late at night.
The fair is not just about shows: the central squares – including Piazzale Carducci, Piazza San Quirino, the Orti di San Francesco, and Piazza Garibaldi – host food stalls where you can taste the flavors of Reggiana and Emilian cuisine. Along the streets, you'll find the street market, craft stalls, stands from volunteer associations, and local agricultural producers. Completing the program are numerous exhibitions set up in city spaces, guided tours, and workshops for the little ones.
The evenings are accompanied by live concerts and musical performances, with the Comunhella On Stage series and other scattered events that liven up the center until night. The formula combines the tradition of the patronal feast with the vibrancy of a contemporary cultural event, in a festive atmosphere that involves the entire city.
Promoted by Pro Loco Correggio with the support of the Municipality, the San Quirino Fair is one of the most deeply rooted events in the Reggio Emilia calendar. The hometown of the painter Antonio Allegri, known as Correggio, the city offers the perfect opportunity to discover its elegant historic center as it buzzes with shows, flavors, and tradition.
The 2026 edition of the San Quirino Fair, titled 'San Quirino under the Stars', animated the historic center of Correggio on Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, with a program designed to be enjoyed mainly in the evening hours. The heart of the celebration was the twenty-first edition of Fricandò, the festival of street artists and ingenuity, accompanied by gastronomy, a market, and culture spread throughout the city.
The detailed program was published by Pro Loco Correggio in PDF format.
