The patronal festival of Brusnengo featuring a funfair, local traditions, and community celebrations
The San Pietro Fair is one of the most anticipated summer events in Brusnengo, a small town in the province of Biella, Piedmont. Organized by the municipality and accompanied by patronal festivities, the event takes place every year in late June to mark the feast of Saints Peter and Paul, the town's patron saints celebrated on June 29th. For about ten days, the town center transforms into a vibrant hub of celebration, filled with market stalls, attractions, and community gatherings.
The heart of the fair is the traditional funfair: rides, attractions, and traveling show equipment are set up throughout the town, drawing families and young people from Brusnengo and neighboring towns in the Biella area. It is the most awaited moment for children, who bring the evenings to life until late at night with lights, music, and fun.
Alongside the fair, the Pro Loco of Brusnengo, in collaboration with the Alpini, SOMS, and UNPLI, organizes festivities in honor of Saints Peter and Paul. The program, which is updated every year, traditionally includes gastronomic evenings featuring local flavors: the vineyard dinner at Cavagnona, at the foot of the Madonna degli Angeli, and the grand barbecue with Piedmontese specialties accompanied by live music and entertainment.
Sunday is dedicated to the religious aspect of the festival, with Holy Mass celebrated in the parish church of Saints Peter and Paul, followed by refreshments offered by the Pro Loco. Over the years, the festival has also featured the participation of the Brusnengo Flag-wavers and Musicians group, along with folkloric moments that highlight the village's identity.
For Brusnengo, the San Pietro Fair represents much more than a simple village festival: it is an opportunity to come together, strengthen community ties, and welcome visitors to the Piedmont region. Between the sacred and the profane, and between rural tradition and popular entertainment, the event preserves the timeless charm of Piedmontese patronal festivals.
