The spring fair of Scopello

The San Marco Fair is a traditional event in the town of Scopello, located in the province of Vercelli, in the heart of the Piedmontese Valsesia. Held at the end of April, it marks, along with the town's other seasonal fairs, the return of the warmer season in the mountains of Upper Piedmont. For one day, Piazza del Municipio transforms into a large open-air market, with stalls displaying a wide range of goods.

A tradition rooted in the fair calendar

In Scopello, fairs are a strong element of local identity: throughout the year, the town hosts the San Marco Fair in spring, the San Bernardo Fair in June, and the better-known San Michele Fair in September, in addition to autumn and Christmas events. The San Marco Fair opens this series and attracts vendors and visitors from neighboring towns in the valley, set within a cozy and welcoming village atmosphere.

What to expect

This is a general goods fair, without livestock exhibitions: among the stalls, you will find clothing, household items, food products, and various trinkets. It is the perfect opportunity for a stroll through the town center, browsing the stalls while taking the time to discover Scopello and the Valsesia territory, dominated by the Alpe di Mera tourist resort.

Scopello and Valsesia

Nestled along the Sesia River at an altitude of about 660 meters, Scopello is the gateway to the Alpe di Mera, a panoramic balcony overlooking the Monte Rosa massif. The San Marco Fair is a small community event that is well worth experiencing as part of a trip to the valley, surrounded by nature, mountains, and local traditions.
