The San Floriano Festival is the patronal feast of Valfloriana, a small scattered municipality in the Val di Fiemme, in Trentino-Alto Adige. Every year, in early May, the community gathers in the hamlet of Casatta to honor Saint Florian, the martyr and patron saint of the town, whose liturgical feast day falls on May 4th. It is an authentic village festival that weaves together religious devotion with conviviality and gastronomy, deeply rooted in the identity of a mountain valley where community traditions still hold great value.

Between faith and conviviality

The festival unites two souls. On one hand, the patronal Mass at the Church of San Floriano in Casatta, celebrated on Sunday with the participation of the volunteer Fire Brigade—a traditional presence at Trentino patronal feasts and symbolically significant given that Saint Florian is the patron saint of firefighters. On the other hand, the convivial aspect, featuring a food and wine evening on Saturday that showcases local products: mountain cuisine dishes paired with Trentino wines and Trentodoc sparkling wines, followed by a party open to everyone with music.

The flavors of Val di Fiemme

The themed dinner is one of the most anticipated moments: a culinary journey that tells the story of the Trentino mountains, from asparagus and speck to alpine cheeses, from traditional first courses to meat dishes, and finally desserts. Each course is thoughtfully paired with Trentino wines, creating a dialogue between the table and the valley's producers. After dinner, the evening continues with music, hot sandwiches, and cocktails, creating an informal and cheerful atmosphere that involves the entire village.

Valfloriana and the Val di Fiemme

A municipality spread across small hamlets and mountain meadows, Valfloriana is also known for its evocative Carnival with the Matoci, but the San Floriano Festival represents the patronal event that marks the beginning of the beautiful season. Attending the festival means discovering an authentic corner of Trentino, far from the main tourist flows, where the community's hospitality and the genuine flavors of the Val di Fiemme are the true protagonists.

A community event

The festival is organized by the Pro Loco Valfloriana together with the Municipality of Valfloriana and with the support of the Cassa Rurale Val di Fiemme. The proceeds and the dedication of the volunteers testify to the village's attachment to its roots and the desire to keep a tradition shared by the entire community alive.
