The wild boar, flavor of the hinterland
The San Damiano Wild Boar Festival is one of the most traditional gastronomic festivals of the Savona hinterland. It takes place in the hamlet of San Damiano, in the municipality of Stellanello (province of Savona), near the charming Sanctuary of Saints Cosma and Damiano, a 16th-century building.
Polenta, wild boar, and valley dishes
The absolute star is the wild boar, often served with polenta, according to a recipe that tells the story of the simple and flavorful cuisine of the Ligurian valleys. The food stands also feature other typical hinterland dishes, in a menu that celebrates the authentic flavors of the territory.
An almost fifty-year tradition
With dozens of editions behind it, the festival is deeply rooted in the life of the community of Stellanello. It traditionally takes place on the first Sunday of September, intertwining the gastronomic feast with devotion to Saints Cosma and Damiano. An event that combines good food, faith, and conviviality, in a charming setting.
Wild Boar Festival — edition 2026
For 2026, the Wild Boar Festival is expected in early September, in line with the tradition that places it on the first Sunday of the month, in the hamlet of San Damiano in Stellanello.
As every year, the stands will offer polenta and wild boar and typical dishes from the Ligurian hinterland, in the setting of the Sanctuary of SS. Cosma and Damiano. The precise dates will be announced by the organizers closer to the event.
