A tradition that has lasted since 1970
In Montegrosso Pian Latte, a Municipality in the Province of Imperia in the upper Arroscia Valley, the Chestnut Festival is a historic event: since 1970 it has enlivened the small village on the second weekend of October, making it one of the longest-running chestnut festivals in Northern Italy. Organized by the Pro Loco, it is the autumn festival par excellence of the Imperia hinterland.
The flavors of autumn
The absolute protagonist is the chestnut, the queen of the valley's woods, served as roasted chestnuts straight from the fire. Alongside the chestnuts, the stands offer fried bread, apple fritters, and even chestnut ice cream, while artisan stalls display local products.
Not just gastronomy
The festival is also a day of fun for all ages. The program, which usually opens mid-morning, includes motorcycle exhibitions, wood sculpting demonstrations with chainsaws, children's theater, virtual reality experiences, e-bike trials, and live music in the afternoon. Recognized as one of the Authentic Ligurian Events, the Montegrosso Chestnut Festival is an opportunity to experience the Arroscia Valley in its most evocative season.
Chestnut Festival of Montegrosso — edition 2026
For 2026, the Chestnut Festival in Montegrosso Pian Latte is expected for its 55th edition, on the usual second weekend of October. The proven formula is confirmed: the great chestnut festival with roasted chestnuts, fried bread, apple fritters, and chestnut ice cream, accompanied by the artisan market and live music performances.

- Opening evening - "Balla coi Rulli" and entertainment
