The patronal feast of Pamparato, blending faith, tradition, and community warmth in Val Casotto
The San Biagio Festival is the patronal feast of Pamparato, a small mountain village in the Val Casotto, in the Province of Cuneo, in the heart of Piedmont. Every year, around February 3rd (the saint's liturgical day), the community gathers to honor its patron, renewing a tradition deeply rooted in the history and heart of the village. It is a simple yet heartfelt celebration, built on relationships, faith, and the desire to reconnect.
The day opens in the morning with Holy Mass in the parish church of San Biagio, a moment of prayer and participation where the village gathers in a spirit of faith and belonging. In the afternoon, the festivities move to the municipal spaces, where the Pro Loco of Pamparato creates a welcoming and convivial atmosphere with a rich refreshment area, the drawing of the traditional San Biagio lottery, music, and the pleasure of spending time together.
Located about 30 kilometers southeast of Cuneo and just under 90 from Turin, Pamparato is a mountain village known for its culinary excellence. The village is famous throughout the Cuneo region for its Val Casotto paste di meliga, crumbly cornmeal biscuits whose origins are linked, according to tradition, to visits by the Savoy family to the nearby Castello di Casotto. The hamlet of Valcasotto, at nearly a thousand meters above sea level, is also known for the traditional aging of alpine cheeses.
The San Biagio Festival is not a large tourist event, but a genuine opportunity for the inhabitants of Pamparato and those returning to the village on this special day to meet. As the Pro Loco reminds us, even in the rain, the village proves that the true warmth is that of the community, capable of transforming a simple recurrence into a precious moment of tradition and friendship.
On Sunday, February 8, 2026, Pamparato celebrated its patron saint, San Biagio. The day opened with Holy Mass in the parish church, a quiet and participatory moment where the village gathered in a spirit of faith and belonging. At noon, local establishments offered special menus dedicated to tradition.
In the afternoon, the festivities moved to the municipal spaces, where the Pro Loco of Pamparato created a welcoming and convivial atmosphere with a buffet, the drawing of the traditional San Biagio lottery, and music. A simple yet authentic celebration that, even under the rain, confirmed the value of the community in this Val Casotto village.
The festival takes place in Pamparato (CN), in Val Casotto. Holy Mass is held in the parish church of San Biagio; the festive afternoon continues in the village's municipal spaces.
By car from Cuneo (approx. 30 km) or Turin (approx. 90 km), following signs for Val Casotto and the Monregalese area. The reference railway station is Mondovì, from which you can continue by car towards the valley.
The event is organized by the Pro Loco of Pamparato. For the updated program and times, it is recommended to check the channels of the Municipality of Pamparato and the Pro Loco in the days leading up to the festival.
