About SalernoSounds

SalernoSounds is the summer festival that transforms Piazza della Libertà, on the Salerno seafront, into a grand open-air arena overlooking the sea. Launched in 2025 by Anni 60 produzioni with the support of the Municipality of Salerno, the Campania Region, and Scabec, it brings some of the most sought-after names in contemporary Italian music to the city: rap and urban scenes, pop, singer-songwriters, and classic popular hits. Featuring a monumental stage with LED screens, the festival hosts a select number of evenings each year, drawing audiences from across the region.

SalernoSounds: great live music on the Salerno seafront

For a few summer evenings, Piazza della Libertà ceases to be just a vast esplanade overlooking the gulf and becomes the city's premier open-air arena. This is the home of SalernoSounds, a festival conceived and organized by Anni 60 produzioni with the support of the Municipality of Salerno, the Campania Region, and Scabec, the regional cultural heritage agency. Few Italian festivals can boast such a setting: a stage backed by the curved profile of the Crescent building, facing the sea, just steps from the historic center and the tourist port.

An arena built for the occasion

Every year, the square is transformed into a true Grand Events Arena. In its inaugural edition, the stage structure measured forty meters in length and eighteen in height, featuring three LED walls totaling one hundred and thirty-six square meters of video surface: a design choice ensuring optimal visibility and sound quality from every point in the parterre. With a capacity of around four thousand, the venue hosts major arena-tour artists while maintaining an intimate connection between the audience and the stage—a high-profile event within a human-scale urban space.

A program that captures the sound of modern Italy

SalernoSounds is not a thematic festival; it has a multifaceted soul. The artistic direction blends rap and urban music, pop, indie, and the historic repertoire of Italian song. Over two editions, Piazza della Libertà has hosted a diverse array of acts, from the most-streamed rappers of the new generation to established singer-songwriters and legends who have defined half a century of Italian pop music. Each evening is a standalone concert with a dedicated ticket, integrated into the artists' national summer tours: this is what has allowed the festival to quickly join the circuit of major open-air live events in Southern Italy.

  • 2026 Edition — Frah Quintale (July 21), Tommaso Paradiso (July 23), Sfera Ebbasta (July 25)
  • 2025 Edition — Capo Plaza (July 12), Irama (July 15), Brunori Sas (July 17), Lazza (July 24), Massimo Ranieri (July 26)

A festival with an eye on the environment

Starting in 2026, the festival introduced a dedicated recycling program in partnership with national recycling consortia—CIAL for aluminum, COMIECO for paper and cardboard, COREPLA for plastic, RICREA for steel—and Salerno Pulita. An interactive area is set up in the venue where the public can learn how the city's multi-material collection system works and how small daily actions translate into sustainable behavior. This is a consistent choice for an event that brings thousands of people together in one of the city's most sensitive public spaces.

Salerno and Campania around the stage

The festival is also an opportunity to discover the capital of the Province of Salerno, the second-largest city in Campania. Just a few minutes' walk from the arena are the palm-lined Lungomare Trieste, the Salerno Cathedral with its Baroque crypt, the medieval historic center, the Giardino della Minerva—a botanical garden linked to the famous Schola Medica Salernitana—and the alleys of Via Mercanti. Salerno also serves as a gateway to the Amalfi Coast via sea connections, while the Cilento region and the temples of Paestum lie to the south. Many spectators choose to stay for a few days, and the Municipality of Salerno has frequently highlighted the festival's positive impact on local hospitality and dining.

How an evening unfolds

On concert days, the square is reserved for ticket holders: access to the arena is exclusively from the seafront side. Gates open in the late afternoon, and the show begins in the early evening, when the heat has subsided and the lighting design can be fully appreciated. The underground parking beneath the square remains closed from the afternoon until the end of the performances, while Salerno Mobilità publishes traffic regulations and parking/public transport information for each date.

SalernoSounds — edition 2026

The second edition of SalernoSounds brought three concerts to Piazza della Libertà over five days: Frah Quintale, Tommaso Paradiso, and Sfera Ebbasta, all part of their respective national summer tours. The Grand Events Arena setup overlooking the sea was confirmed, with shows starting at 9:30 PM and gates opening at 6:00 PM. A new feature for 2026 was the recycling program developed with national recycling consortia and Salerno Pulita.

SalernoSounds 2026, three evenings on the seafront

The 2026 edition of SalernoSounds took place from July 21 to 25 in the Grand Events Arena set up in Piazza della Libertà, Salerno. Only three appointments, but built around top names in contemporary Italian music: Frah Quintale, Tommaso Paradiso, and Sfera Ebbasta. The festival is conceived and organized by Anni 60 produzioni with the support of the Campania Region, Scabec, and the Municipality of Salerno.

A positive outcome

According to the Municipality of Salerno, the three evenings drew a total of over fifteen thousand spectators, many of whom arrived from outside the region, with significant benefits for the city's hotels and restaurants. The Sfera Ebbasta concert closed the festival on July 25.

The green turning point

2026 also marked the launch of a structured environmental component: together with CIAL, COMIECO, COREPLA, RICREA, and Salerno Pulita, an interactive space was set up where the public could learn about the city's multi-material collection system and the fate of the aluminum, plastic, steel, paper, and cardboard collected in the square.
