Where street food meets music in the heart of Salento
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Salento Street Food Festival is one of the most anticipated food and wine events of the Galatina summer. Every year, for three consecutive nights, the expansive Area Mercatale in Galatina (Lecce) becomes a hub for street food lovers. Food trucks and stalls from all over Italy join forces with the authentic flavors of Salento, creating a massive open-air culinary village with free admission.
The festival's winning formula is simple: combining great food with music and entertainment. Visitors can explore stalls serving everything from traditional Puglian 'cucina povera'—such as friselle and gourmet sandwiches—to fresh seafood fry-ups and grilled meats, not to mention iconic desserts like the famous pasticciotto leccese. Every dish is perfectly paired with craft beers and local wines, highlighting the quality of regional ingredients.
The festival's motto, "where taste meets music," perfectly captures its spirit. Each evening features live concerts, DJ sets, and nationally renowned guests on a stage that keeps the Area Mercatale buzzing until late. Past editions have hosted famous artists and radio personalities, turning every evening into a lively popular celebration.
The Salento Street Food Festival isn't just for foodies: free entry and a dedicated children's area make it a perfect outing for all ages. Families, groups of friends, and tourists vacationing in Salento find here a convivial atmosphere to enjoy summer evenings filled with good food, music, and festive vibes.
Located in the heart of the Salento peninsula, Galatina is one of Puglia's most fascinating art cities, famous for the Basilica of Santa Caterina d'Alessandria and its history of 'tarantismo'. Organized by the No Colors association with the patronage of the Municipality of Galatina, the event helps bring the city's summer to life and promotes the region, attracting visitors from across Salento and the province of Lecce.
Dates and the program for the 2026 edition of the Salento Street Food Festival have not yet been released. Based on previous editions, the event is usually held in the second half of July at the Area Mercatale in Galatina, with free admission. The detailed program, including food vendors and musical guests, will be announced by the organizing association in the weeks leading up to the event.
Galatina is easily accessible by car via the SS101 Lecce-Gallipoli road, taking the Galatina exit. The city is served by the Ferrovie del Sud Est railway line, with connections from Lecce. The nearest airports are Brindisi and Bari.
Admission to the festival is free. The event takes place in the Area Mercatale, generally starting at 7:00 PM. Food and drinks can be purchased directly at the individual stalls.
We recommend arriving early on concert nights and utilizing the parking areas located near the Area Mercatale.
