The patronal feast of the Villanova district, blending faith, live music, and local gastronomy
The Saint Nicholas Bishop Festival is the patronal feast of the Villanova district, located in the municipality of Cepagatti, in the province of Pescara, nestled in the heart of the Abruzzo hills between the Pescara valley and the hills overlooking the sea. For four days, the Villanova Public Park becomes the hub of village life, with a program that combines popular devotion to the patron saint with entertainment, live music, and excellent food.
The religious heart of the festival remains the most anticipated moment for the locals. Celebrations include the Holy Rosary and Holy Masses in honor of Saint Nicholas, culminating in the traditional procession with the statue of the saint through the streets of the district, accompanied by the "Cittร di Cepagatti" Marching Band. It is a moment when the community gathers around its identity and roots, in a manifestation of faith passed down from generation to generation.
Alongside the religious dimension, the evenings at the park offer a rich schedule of free shows, starting every night at 9:00 PM. The program ranges from dance orchestras playing ballroom music, group dances, and Latin-American rhythms, to live bands covering the greatest hits of the eighties, nineties, and two-thousands, closing with themed nights and tribute bands that turn the park into an open-air disco.
Every evening, starting at 8:00 PM, the Festival Committee's food stands offer typical specialties of the Abruzzese culinary tradition, from arrosticini to local pasta dishes, to accompany the evenings with the flavors of the territory. The festival is also an opportunity for activities dedicated to children, with games, entertainment, and moments designed for families.
Organized by the Festival Committee with the patronage of the Municipality of Cepagatti, the event represents one of the most cherished summer appointments in the Villanova district and the entire municipal territory. Admission to all evenings is free, in a festive atmosphere that involves residents and visitors from neighboring towns in the province of Pescara.
The 2026 edition offered four evenings at the Villanova Public Park, with shows starting at 9:00 PM and food stands open from 8:00 PM. Religious celebrations in honor of Saint Nicholas Bishop concluded on Sunday with the traditional procession of the saint's statue, accompanied by the "Cittร di Cepagatti" Marching Band.
