The patronal feast of the Rivoira hamlet in Boves, blending faith, music, and local flavors
The Saint Isidore Festival is the most anticipated event of the year for the residents of Rivoira, a small hamlet in the municipality of Boves, in the province of Cuneo, southwest Piedmont. Dedicated to Saint Isidore the Farmer, patron saint of farmers, the festival is rooted in the valley's rural traditions and remains a moment for the entire community to reunite: both those who live in the village and those who return specifically for the occasion.
The religious heart of the festival is Sunday morning, when a solemn mass is celebrated at 10:00 AM, followed by the traditional procession through the streets of the hamlet in honor of the saint. It is a ritual repeated for generations that keeps the bond between the Rivoira community and its farming identity alive.
Alongside the spiritual dimension, the festival offers two days of pure conviviality. Saturday night is dedicated to the younger crowd with "Saint Isidore by night," an evening filled with beer, fun, and music from a DJ who keeps the hamlet lively until late. Sunday afternoon features a scenic bike ride through the countryside surrounding Rivoira, a pleasant route enriched by various gastronomic stops to savor traditional Piedmontese dishes.
Making all this possible is the Rivoira Terra di Vita association, which mobilizes volunteers, the prior, and the stewards every year to set up the festival. It is thanks to this collective effort that a small hamlet in Boves can offer a program capable of uniting multiple generations, confirming that patronal feasts remain a precious pillar of community life in the villages of the Cuneo area.
The 2026 Saint Isidore Festival enlivened the Rivoira hamlet of Boves over the weekend of April 25-26. The traditional formula was confirmed: a music night on Saturday, religious celebrations, and outdoor activities on Sunday. The organization was managed by the Rivoira Terra di Vita association, with Prior Enzo Maccario and stewards Claudio Bertaina and Stefano Pellegrino.
