About Saint Christina Festival

Every year, between July 23rd and 25th, Campomarino pauses to honor Saint Christina, the virgin martyr and patron saint of the town. The festival combines religious observance — solemn masses in the Church of Santa Maria a Mare, a procession of the saint's effigy through the old town and modern areas, and a blessing of the sea — with civic festivities, including a band performance, fireworks, and a grand finale concert that has featured artists like Le Vibrazioni and BigMama. It's the highlight of the AESTIVA summer calendar.

The Patron Saint of Campomarino

Saint Christina, a virgin and young martyr, is the patron saint of Campomarino, located on the Adriatic coast of Molise. Her festival, one of the most cherished in the town, traditionally takes place on July 23rd, 24th, and 25th: July 23rd is dedicated to Saint Anne, while July 24th and 25th honor the patron saint, Saint Christina.

Faith and Tradition

The main day begins with a wake-up call by the band and firecrackers, followed by a solemn mass in the Church of Santa Maria a Mare, a Romanesque gem in the old town featuring a 12th-century crypt. The most moving moment is the procession of the saint's effigy, which winds through the old town and the modern part of the village, with stops at the Madonnina shrine and the Church of the Holy Spirit. The picturesque blessing of the sea from the tourist pier is also a highlight.

The Civic Celebration

Alongside the religious rites, the civic celebration fills Campomarino's squares: the band concert — formerly the «Giuseppe Ragni» Philharmonic Band of Abruzzo — a fireworks display, and, most importantly, the grand finale concert. In recent years, the Saint Christina Festival has become a flagship event of the AESTIVA festival series, hosting nationally renowned artists like Le Vibrazioni (2024) and BigMama (2025) in Piazza Aldo Moro and throughout the town.

Saint Christina Festival — edition 2026

The Saint Christina Festival 2026 returns from July 23rd to 25th in Campomarino. Three days of celebrations honoring the patron saint, including solemn masses, a procession of the effigy, blessing of the sea, band performance, and fireworks, culminating in the grand finale concert of the AESTIVA festival.

In 2026, Campomarino will once again celebrate its patron saint, Saint Christina, from July 23rd to 25th. The program follows the established format: July 23rd dedicated to Saint Anne, and July 24th and 25th to the patron saint. The festivities include a band wake-up call, solemn masses in the Church of Santa Maria a Mare, a procession of the effigy through the old town and modern areas, blessing of the sea, and fireworks. The final concert, the most anticipated event of the civic celebration and the AESTIVA festival, will be announced in the weeks prior.
