The Salento flavors festival in Torre Mozza, on the Ugento seaside
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Sagra te Cose Noscie is one of the most beloved gastronomic events of the Salento summer. It takes place in Torre Mozza, a small seaside village belonging to the Municipality of Ugento, in the Province of Lecce, overlooking the Ionian Sea in the Marina di Ugento area. The name, in the Salento dialect, roughly translates to "the festival of our things": an invitation to rediscover the products and recipes of the territory, the ones from the past, prepared just like they used to be.
The event is organized by the Associazione Culturale Gemini, which has been enlivening these summer evenings for several years with the goal of promoting the popular cuisine of Lower Salento and bringing the seaside village to life during the August nights. The setting is the evocative ancient coastal watchtower, a sentinel overlooking the sea that gives the town its name.
The heart of the festival is the food stalls, where you can taste the specialties of Salento tradition. Among the dishes offered in the various editions: pittule, stuffed pucce, ricchie e minchiareddhri (the typical fresh Salento pasta), pitta te patate, maritati al sugo, meat and pezzetti, and spumone for a sweet finish. All accompanied by draft beer, local wine, and other regional specialties at popular prices.
In addition to good food, the Sagra te Cose Noscie offers live music and evenings of pizzica, the traditional dance of Salento. In past editions, groups from the Salento scene have performed, ranging from folk music to concerts that kept the square dancing until late at night. Admission is free, and the atmosphere is typical of Apulian village festivals: families, tourists, and residents gathering at outdoor tables just a few steps from the beach.
Included in the rich calendar of summer festivals in Salento, the Torre Mozza event is an opportunity to combine a day at the beach with the discovery of local gastronomy. Ugento, with its marinas—from Torre San Giovanni to Torre Mozza—is one of the most popular destinations on the Ionian coast of Salento, and this festival tells the story of its popular and convivial soul.
