Salento flavors and pizzica music at the foot of the Torre Mozza tower
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Sagra ta Turre is a staple of the Salento summer, held in Torre Mozza, a seaside hamlet in the municipality of Ugento, in the province of Lecce, in the heart of the Ionian Puglia region. The name, in the local Salento dialect, refers to the coastal tower that dominates this stretch of coastline. The festival takes place right at the foot of this ancient watchtower on Viale Tiepolo, in a setting overlooking the sea that makes every evening truly evocative.
At the heart of the event is authentic Salento gastronomy, served at stalls managed by the Geminia cultural association, which organizes the festival. Visitors can sample iconic dishes from the local farming and maritime traditions: handmade orecchiette and minchiareddhi, Salento pucce, the essential pittule, grilled meats, fresh fried fish, and finally, artisanal spumone for dessert. Local wines and craft beers are also available, perfect for enjoying an outdoor dinner under the starry Salento sky.
The Sagra ta Turre is more than just a food and wine festival; it is a community celebration animated by folk music and the infectious rhythm of pizzica, the traditional dance of Salento. Each edition hosts bands and artists from the Salento folk scene, keeping both young and old dancing until late in the evening, in a festive atmosphere that brings together residents, vacationers, and tourists drawn to the beaches of Torre Mozza.
With its many editions, the Sagra ta Turre has established itself as one of the most iconic events in the Ugento marina, showcasing local products, folk traditions, and the scenic beauty of the coast. The combination of good food, live music, free admission, and sunsets over the sea makes it an unmissable stop for anyone spending their summer in lower Salento, between Ugento, Torre San Giovanni, and Gallipoli.
At the moment, the organizers have not yet announced the dates and program for the 2026 edition of the Sagra ta Turre in Torre Mozza, a hamlet of Ugento (Lecce). Historically, the festival takes place in the latter part of July at the foot of the coastal tower, showcasing the typical flavors of Salento and local folk music. This page will be updated as soon as the Geminia cultural association releases official information regarding the 2026 edition.
The Sagra ta Turre is held in Torre Mozza, a seaside hamlet of Ugento (LE), at the foot of the coastal tower on Viale Tiepolo, Puglia.
Torre Mozza can be reached by car along the Salento Ionian coastal road, just a few kilometers from the center of Ugento and Torre San Giovanni. The nearest train station is in Ugento (Ferrovie del Sud Est line); during the summer, bus connections to the coastal areas are available.
Admission to the festival is free. Food and drinks can be purchased at the various stalls.
The event takes place in the evening: we recommend arriving early to find parking and enjoy the sunset over the sea before the musical performances begin.
